Cody Simpson is premiering his first single as an independent artist this Friday on GMA! We’ve been eagerly awaiting new music from Cody since he announced last Summer he was leaving his record label in order to make the music he’s been wanting to make all along. We can’t wait to hear the track, named “Flower,” especially after hearing the preview Cody posted on Twitter.

The Friday Five: Concert Movies

The next best thing to seeing your favorite artist on tour is the concert movie! The Backstreet Boys’ documentary, Show Em What You’re Made Of, is in theaters and on iTunes today. Here are some of our favorites over the years.

1. Best of Both Worlds Concert in 3D

This movie kicked off the 3D concert movie trend – it started as a way for people to see the incredibly popular tour, which sold out in seconds and had infamously high resale tickets. We were lucky enough to catch this tour in person (twice!) but the 3D movie was a perfect way to relive the show, or experience it for yourself.

2. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience

Jonas Brothers had a two song role in the Best of Both Worlds 3D movie, as the opening act on the tour that helped launch their careers. They had their own 3D movie the following year, filmed on the Burnin’ Up Tour. Which we went to 3, 4 .. okay 6 times. It was nice to give our Bonus Jonas DVD a rest for a while.

3. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

This one just might make a Belieber out of you, and is concert movie propaganda at its finest. At least we have a nice document of the good old days? Remember that hair flip?

4. Katy Perry: Part Of Me

Katy is known for her fun, upbeat personality and live shows. The most memorable part of this movie is a scene where Katy manages to go from a complete breakdown to perform for a crowd of 50,000 in a matter of minutes. Talk about a pro.

5. Backstreet Boys: Show Em What You’re Made Of

It’s remarkable that BSB have been together for 21 years now! Yes, Kevin ditched the band for a few years, but the Boys never actually broke up. So can we quit saying Backstreet’s Back, alright? They never went anywhere, and they’ve had it goin’ on for years.

You’ve probably caught yourself rocking out to Jackson Guthy’s set on tour – he’s opened for Big Time Rush, 5SOS, Fifth Harmony, and more. His new band, North of Nine, has his signature pop sound. In case you haven’t noticed, we are insanely excited about The Main Event Tour happening this summer. NKOTB, TLC, and Nelly performing together on one stage? It’s guaranteed to be a nonstop party. Not sure about you, but we’ll be attending at least two shows. Check out all of the tour dates HERE! Here are some of the songs we can’t wait to hear this summer!

1. NKOTB – “Block Party”
The ultimate opening song, and NKOTB says it best: “Leave your troubles all behind only good times here tonight.” We still know all the choreography from The Package Tour.

2. TLC – “No Scrubs”
One of our favorite songs of the late 90s – we can’t wait for an arena-wide singalong.

3. Nelly – “Hot In Herre”
We’re imagining some sort of onstage collab between NKOTB & Nelly for this song, especially since NKOTB have done some “Dirty Dancing” to this song in the past.

4. NKOTB – “Cover Girl”
If you’ve seen NKOTB on tour before, then you might also know this song as “that song when Donnie rips off his tank top.”

5. TLC – Waterfalls
Throwing it way back to the days when we had to record songs off of the radio to cassette tapes on our boom boxes so we could listen on our Walkmen. (Kids, if you have no idea what we’re taking about, watch this. You have no idea how easy you have it now)

Paramore just announced a string of shows this Spring to close out the “Self-Titled era” of the band, and they’re bringing Copeland with them! “Writing The Future: An Intimate Evening of Music With Paramore” will bring the band to smaller venues and theaters around the United States. Check out what the band had to say about the shows below.

“It feels right to bring the Self-Titled era to a close. We’ve had a very personal and hugely triumphant journey with this one. What wouldn’t feel right is saying goodbye to this time in the band’s career and not celebrating it with our fans in some special way. So we’ve decided to do one last little run with it. Smaller shows, beautiful theaters…and we’re not calling it a tour, by the way. Each night will be a little event, or as we said just a few seconds ago, a celebration. As we acknowledge the past few years (and more) of everything we’ve been through together, we’re also looking forward together at all there is to come.”
