MILKK Release “Stupid” Single From Upcoming Debut Album

MILKK are the Internet’s self proclaimed boyband with a tongue in cheek, lackadaisical approach to building their empire.

The band, comprised of Pat Kiloran, Jack Vondrachek, and John Ogelby, just released their second single, “Stupid” off their upcoming debut album.  The new track is an uplifting ballad written by singer/songwriter Pat Kiloran and self-produced by the band that tells the tale of modern love and deep dives into the effects of technological distractions.

Niki Black Premieres Debut Single, “Not Coming Up”

Born and raised in Los Angeles, indie-pop songstress Niki Black has crafted a sound as unique as herself. Growing up in a mixed heritage household, Niki blended her father’s Chicago blues roots with her mother’s love of Iranian pop and classical music.  She also cites flamboyant Operatic arias, the expressiveness of musical theater, as well as Lorde, Blood Orange, and Years & Years as major influences, “They’re the perfect blend of otherworldliness, beauty, modernity, and rebellion,” shares Niki.

Niki Black just dropped her debut single, “Not Coming Up” and it’s everything we’ve been craving from pop music!  The single is dark, brooding, and beautiful, inspired by her first queer relationship.  Niki is set to release her debut EP soon which closely mirrors Dante’s Divine Comedy and inspired by her studies in feminist theology loosely describes the journey from heaven to oblivion, or hell.  “I wanted to retell that descent from a modern feminine perspective, one of the damned, which some of us may feel like sometimes, or all the time….whether it’s from religion directly, from a relationship, or from yourself,” shares Niki.

Artist To Watch: Arrested Youth

Arrested Youth is inspiring anyone and everyone who is fed up with the rat race to ditch it and live life on your own terms!

Ian Johnson, better known as Arrested Youth, started writing music when he was 15, heavily influenced equally by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kid Cudi and dropped a series of mixtapes as well as a debut EP that climbed into the iTunes Top 25 Pop charts.

With success comes strong discouragement and eventually he took a break from music. He also knows a thing or two about the rat race.  Johnson graduated in 2016 with a triple major in business from Indiana University and landed a coveted job in Anheuser-Busch’s’ Global Management Program. Within eight months, he was offered a promotion and a raise – but the position also required 60+ hour workweeks.  He turned it all down to pursue music full time once more.

“Working in corporate America was a struggle,” shares Johnson. “I found myself waking up every day feeling like a prisoner. I started writing music again as an outlet to express my frustrations.”

Since re-entering the music world full time, Arrested Youth is back to inspiring anyone who’s willing to listen.  In 2017, he released “My Friends Are Robots,” an ode to the lack of self expression he experienced while working in corporate America, and “A Painting In Paris” which touches on the vanity of his generation.

Arrested Youth’s debut LP “FEAR” dropped in September 2018 with the lead single “Mirrors,” epitomizing the theme of the album. “The album reflects our state of mind, growing up in a world controlled by social media, the press, mental illness, violence, and extreme uncertainty,” shares Johnson. “We need to look within ourselves to understand who we’ve become as a society. Only then can we change the ill fate of mankind.”

Watch the tour video for “Mirrors” below!

Currently, Arrested Youth is criss-crossing North America with YUNGBLUD’s  21st Century Liability Tour.  The tour hits Brooklyn later this week for a sold out show at Baby’s All Right!  Check out all of the tour dates here.

Album Preview: Bearings – “Blue In The Dark”

Ottowa based pop punk band Bearings have had an incredible year and they’re getting ready to skyrocket their blend of bouncey emo rock into the stratosphere with their eagerly awaited debut full-length album Blue In The Dark due out October 12th on Pure Noise Records.  Since releasing the “Nothing Here Is Permanent” EP in September 2017, the quartet have quickly become one of the most buzzworthy bands in the underground pop punk scene.

Bearings’ debut album will hook you from the first song and have you singing along the entire time.  In an era where too many bands have resorted to a shorter record format with too much filler, Bearings are bringing back the “all killer, no filler” approach.

Each song on Blue In The Dark propels the record ahead and lyrically tugs on your heartstrings.  “Beautiful Places” tackles the feeling of not being enough, whatever that means to you, while “Stuck In A Doorframe” chugs along from the first note and is easily one of our favorites on the record.  Other stand out tracks on the records include the 90’s Alt Rock infused “Careless Clarity,” the dreamy, steel string acoustic “Tide,” and blissfully happy “Eyes Closed.”

Watch the brand new video for “Aforementioned” below.

MILKK Are “Thinkin Bout U” In New Video

MILKK teased a new single all week and they surprise dropped the music video ahead of the release on Friday!  Singer Pat Kiloran goes through the motions to try and win back his girl in the video for “Thinkin Bout U.” The single take video was written by Pat Kiloran who also co-directed the new clip with Dawson Waters.   Following their last EP, MILKK are hinting at even more new music and the video finishes with a cryptic, single line of text reading “Welcome To My Headrush.”

MILKK just wrapped up a tour with The Stolen and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the year!  If the new single is any indication, MILKK will be taking over your playlists very shortly, if they haven’t already.
