State Champs Return With New Album, “Kings Of The New Age”

NY State’s own State Champs are here to stay with their new album, Kings Of The New Age and are proving they belong here!

With the same energetic pop punk sound with a fresh twist, the guys know how to write THE catchiest hooks that will stand the test of time. In classic State Champs fashion, they’ve put together a record that we want to blast in our car stereos as loud as we can crank it with the windows down driving around town all Summer long!

Featuring guest vocals from friends like Chrissy Costanza (Against The Current), Four Year Strong, Ben Barlow (Neck Deep) and Mitchell Tenpenny, the record draws you in and keeps you there with hooks so infectiously sweet – the pop punk greats of the past are already proud to hand the baton off to the guys.

Sprinkled in between tested and true fan favorites “Outta My Head” and the fun, kiss off track, “Everybody But You” (featuring Neck Deep‘s Ben Barlow) are stand out heartfelt love confessions in “Half Empty” and “Act Like That (ft. Mitchell Tenpenny)” showing the bands’ softer side.

“’Act Like That’ is the most ‘out of the box’ song for us on the album,” shares vocalist Derek DiScanio. “We had a lot of fun experimenting with some poppier elements, but it was challenging at first to bring the right level of SC energy to level it out. We hit a moment in the studio when we definitely found that balance, and we’re very excited to share this dance-y, rockin’, lyrically dynamic love song that makes you wanna jump around.”

State Champs’ duality of being able to write hooks that make you want to jump in the mosh pit and scream along to how much you love the person you’re with – or how much you hate them while still being super upbeat and sounding like the sunny side of life is what has set them apart and propelled them to the massive stages they deserve to be headlining with each record the release.

Watch the official video for the latest single, “Eventually” below!

Be sure to grab a pre-order of the new record, Kings Of The New Age, due out May 13th via Pure Noise Records and pre-save it on your favorite streaming platform!

Awich Releases Major Label Debut, “Partition”

Awich, short for “Asia Wish Child,” has established herself as one of Japan’s top hip hop artists and is set to redefine the hierarchy of the community. The Okinawa-born MC has become one of the most fierce acts, balancing swaggering numbers and swinging lyrical flexes most MC’s can only dream of.

Her musical journey began with a chance trip to a CD store thanks to her cousin. “My cousin wanted to go. I went, and she said I could pick whatever I wanted, and she’d rent it for me.” It’s important to note that hip hop was starting to redefine the direction of popular music in Japan thanks to American artists getting more time in the spotlight and domestic artists rising up to the mainstream. Intrigued by the genre, then teen Awich “went to the hip hop section, and just closed my eyes and picked one. That was 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me.

She did her homework on 2Pac, reading his lyrics, listening to all of his interviews, and was totally captured by what she heard. Awich had been writing poetry since she was 9 so she learned to bend the art towards music and continued to learn the history and style of hiphop.

The lead single from her brand new, major label debut Partition, “Shook Shook” was shaped after one memorable headline show. “I did a headline set at a show with a whole bunch of dude rappers. Real macho dudes. They all went before me…but I was the headline. A woman, as the finale, like a queen. Like a boss bitch,” she says. “The audience didn’t expect that…a girl, after all these dudes?”

Awich’s latest single, “Bad Bad” has a more “vibe-y” feel than “Shook Shook” and shows off how multifaceted she is. The track focuses the uncertainty of new love, from the strength of taking on the world with someone new by your side, to the strange feeling of weakness around wanting someone to stay. The video for “Bad Bad” was scouted by Awich, filmed on her home island of Okinawa and features real life friends and her daughter, showcasing her life and love on the island. When asked about the direction of the video, director, Kento Yamada (Double Tokyo) states, “A rapper, a woman and a mother. I’m honored to be able to capture various faces of Awich on this video in her homeland Okinawa.”

That’s the energy and stage presence Awich brings to every performance. She’s tackling the male-centric music industry, and cornering the Japanese rap market with her story and unmatched flow. “I want to be one of the best rappers in Japanese rap history,” she says. “And internationally, I want to be one of the first Japanese artists that can really communicate who she is and where she comes from.”

Partition expands every side of her and highlights Awich’s strong writing skills while also experimenting with different moods. “Awake” flows gently with lyrics that comfort the listener while “Patrona” cuts like a knife sharpened with intent.

Awich is also adamant about using her platform to raise awareness in Japan about social injustices and most recently the Black Lives Matter movement by taking to her social media to show support, and speaking at panels aimed at educating local audiences.

Album Review: The Faim – “State Of Mind”

Australia’s latest export, The Faim are kicking off a massive tour with fellow Aussie pop punk band, Stand Atlantic hitting cities across North America and both bands are poised to take the American scene by storm.  The Faim just dropped their hotly anticiapted debut album, “State Of Mind” today, Friday, September 13th via BMG and we can’t wait to see them translate these songs to their high octane live shows!

Consisting of lead singer Josh Raven, bassist/keyboardist Stephen Beerkens, guitarist Samuel Tye, and Drummer Linden Marissen, The Faim’s debut album brings together all of the elements they’ve showcased in previous releases like “Saints of the Sinners,” “Midland Line,” and “My Heart Needs To Breathe.” The record perfectly displays the band’s ability to seamlessly flow from big gang vocal choruses in “Humans” to arena sized tracks that would be right at home in MSG like “Buying Time” which echoes early Panic! At The Disco.

“We wanted to show the variety of skills between the four of us,” says Stephen. “We wanted to stick true to our roots and where we came from, which is essentially just us being able to explore the passion and love we have for music,” Josh adds. “But we also wanted to experiment and to have fun with the songs.”

The record also features tracks like “Tongue Tied,” which is a heart pumping radio friendly track along side piano driven, introspective tracks like “Infamous” and “Where The River Runs.”  The band’s influences are prominent and frequently displayed with co-writes from the likes of Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, Ashton Irwin from 5SOS, and Mark Hoppus from Blink 182.

The title track, “State Of Mind” closes out the record with singer Josh Raven forecully begging the listener “take a seat and let me introduce myself…” and flows along like a burning river of emotion.  The track clocks in at 4:41 making it the longest song on the record with a searing guitar solo to finish out an incredible debut effort from one of the most promising new Australian bands.

The Faim are heading out on a co-headline tour this Fall with Stand Atlantic hitting cities across the US! Check out the dates HERE and get your tickets before they sell out.

Make sure you grab your copy of “State Of Mind” on Amazon or Apple Music and stream it on your favorite streaming platform so you can sing along on tour.

Hunter Hayes To Release “Wild Blue: Part I” Album on August 16

After nearly 4 years since dropping his last album, the wait is finally over!   And we mean over – Hunter Hayes is dropping his new album, “Wild Blue: Part I,” TOMORROW, August 16th!   Hunter shared the big news on an appearance on the TODAY show earlier this week.  He also dropped the title track of the album, “Wild Blue,” which you might have heard if you caught Hunter on the Closer To You Tour earlier this year (IT’S SO GOOD).  If not, listen to the track now!   The song, and the album, are all about finding yourself and the true feelings of freedom and lightness that go along with it.

We’re even more excited because “Part I” means there is a “Part II” and maybe even a “Part III” on the way, which means even more new music from Hunter!   What was the reason for such a long wait?  Hunter took his time to really write everything on his own and make his most personal and honest record yet.  He initially set out with the mindset of creating an album that no one would ever hear, which gave him the freedom to be as honest and real as possible.   This honesty really shines through on tracks like “Dear God” and “My Song Too.”

Hunter Hayes “Wild Blue: Part I” Tracklisting
1. “Madness”
2. “Wild Blue”
3. “Heartbreak”
4. “One Good Reason”
5. “Dear God”
6. “Loving You”
7. “My Song Too”
8. “One Shot”
9. “Night and Day”
10. “Still”

You can pre-save the album on Spotify now!

Chase Atlantic Announce Sophomore Album, “Phases” Out June 28th & Summer Tour

Chase Atlantic are gearing up for a huge Summer! The Aussies just announced a massive headlining tour hitting cities across North America ahead of the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Phases,” due out June 28th, 2019.

We’ve developed a completely new sound within a matter of months that has never been tapped into before. Chase Atlantic is now dwelling within a realm of its own; it’s both scarily isolating and blissfully euphoric at the same time. Welcome to a whole new era.”

Album Preview: Emarosa – “Peach Club”

Emarosa are on the verge or releasing something special.  The musical climate is shifting and Emarosa are ready to be a part of the genre bending movement.  Known for their post hardcore sound, Emarosa don’t want to be pigeon holed as a one trick pony.  The band are set to release their highly anticipated fifth full length record, “Peach Club” on February 8th through Hopeless Records.

Bradley Walden & co have been moving towards a more pop friendly sound but don’t discredit the band for ditching crunchy guitars for saxophone solos and dance floor anthems.  “Peach Club” is the natural progression from “131,” ready to sky rocket the Kentucky bred group into the big leagues.   Emarosa teased the new record with new tracks “Don’t Cry,” “Givin’ Up,” and “Cautious” but they saved the best for the record.

“Peach Club” is full of fun tracks you can bop along to, but we can guarantee you’ll be blasting this record with the windows down and the system all the way up.  “Get Back Up” is a motivational mid tempo track directly followed by the retro, sunny riff and synths on “So Bad” which already has a place at the top of our playlist!

Bradley lets his guard down on “xo” showcasing his earnest vocals with just a solo electric guitar which is one of the highest part of the entire record and such an honest departure from what fans have come to expect from Emarosa.  But don’t let that track fool you, these guys bring the heat back with “Hell Of It” and keep that energy moving towards the album closer “Wait, Stay.”

Emarosa aren’t bidding farewell to their old sound, they’re just building on their experiences and refusing to stay stagnant.  “Peach Club” is the welcoming of a new era both for fans and the band.

Watch the visualizer video for “Get Back Up” below.

Be sure to pre-order “Peach Club” on iTunes or Amazon and grab a pre-order bundle HERE that includes exclusive merch like crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, t-shirts, an “xo” pendant necklace, vinyl, and more!

Jack & Jack Release Highly Anticipated Debut Album, “A Good Friend Is Nice”

They’re just two best friends chasing the same dream.  Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson just dropped their hotly anticipated debut album, “A Good Friend Is Nice” through Island Records.

The duo’s album was definitely worth the wait!  Featuring several new tracks like “Lotta Love,” “April Gloom,” “Pose,” and the long awaited “Day Dreaming,” the album is filled with signature upbeat party tracks but Jack & Jack are throwing their hats in the ring with mid tempo tropical jams like “Promise Me” and “Barcelona.”

Once the album hits it’s stride, we’re treated to the two stand out stracks, “Used To You Now” and “Meet You In The Sky.”  “Used To You Now” is a sultry track about getting into a routine with your new flame and being scared of falling in love with someone again while “Meet You In The Sky” brings a fun dance groove to get us out the winter rut we’re stuck in.

Listen to Jack & Jack’s debut album “A Good Friend Is Nice” on Spotify now!
