We can’t believe it’s just one week until the release of Thomas Rhett’s brand new album! TR has been releasing “instant grat” tracks leading up to the album release on September 25th. Watch all of the videos below, including the latest video for Thomas’ next single, “Die A Happy Man.” You can also get “tangled up” this weekend and stream the whole album early on CMT.com!
As we’ve said before, tennis is the perfect sport for fangirls. And the US Open is finally here! After spending the rest of the year watching our score app or trying to find a live stream, we finally get to see our favorite players up close and in person. So, in honor of the US Open kicking off on Monday, August 31st, here are our 5 players to watch.
1.Grigor Dimitrov
Grigor is one of the hottest young rising stars in the sport. And if you’ve ever wondered what Grigor’s favorite Backstreet Boys’ song is, we suggest you watch this video. (also an ATP boyband? Yes please!)
2.Rafa Nadal
Thank you, Tommy Hilfiger. Thank you.
4.Mardy Fish
We’re thrilled to see Mardy back at the US Open this year, as he’s played some of our favorite matches ever at the tournament. Sadly Mardy will be retiring after this year’s US Open. We’ll never forget the crowd cheering “who lives in a pineapple under the sea?” “MARDYYY MARDDYYYY”
5.Pierre-Hugues Herbert
Or as well call him, “P2Hugz,” thanks to his Twitter handle. The Frenchman was officially inducted to the French Davis Cup squad earlier this year, and they made him sing.
It’s a known fact that we will go see anything starring Zac Efron. Plot? Doesn’t matter. His newest movie, “We Are Your Friends,” hits theaters next week. Zac plays an aspiring DJ who just needs that 1 track to make it big time. In honor of the new film, here’s a look at some of Zefron’s greatest roles.
1. “Summerland”
Zac’s first major role, alongside Jesse McCartney and Danielle Panabaker. Seriously, what do we need to do to get this show on Netflix or Hulu?
2. “High School Musical”
One of the greatest musical numbers of all time.
3. “17 Again”
This movie has the 3 essential ingredients of a successful Zefron film: dancing, basketball, and (un)necessary shirtless scenes.
4. “Neighbors”
The only thing better than a Zefron movie is one that also stars Dave Franco! Look out for the sequel next year.
5. “We Are Your Friends” We love that Zac & the cast promoted the movie with screenings and after-parties across the country, giving the fangirls what they want.
We’re still fangirling over the news that 5SOS is releasing their second album, “Sounds Good Feels Good” in October! Pre-orders for the album went up today(8/14) along with the release of a new track, “Fly Away!” We’re also fangirling over the fact that our 5SOS “Rock Out With Your Socks Out” show is (finally) just 3 weeks away! Here are 5 of our favorite 5SOS tracks .
1. “She’s Kinda Hot”
5SOS’s new single is a rock anthem for the generations. We can’t wait to hear this live and ROCK OUT!
2.”Good Girls”
If good girls are bad girls who haven’t been caught, are bad girls good girls who HAVE been caught?
3.”Don’t Stop”
The video for “Don’t Stop” brought out 5SOS’s inner super hero alter-egos but this song makes us feel like dancing like nobody’s around.
4. “Lost Boy” We love the non-cheesy Peter Pan nod in this song!
5. “Social Casualty”
This song all but name drops both Greenday and All Time Low from the lyrics to the music – of course it’s one of our favorites!
August just started and that means summer vacation is almost over! BUT you can pretend that it’s summer forever with this week’s Friday Five: Vacation Songs! These songs are all sunshine in a song with lyrics that drip summer time feelings like an ice cream cone.
1. Chase Rice – Beach Town Who doesn’t love a beach town – the tourist traps, flip flops and tank tops being standard attire.
2. 5SOS – Permanent Vacation Everyone wishes they were on a permanent vacation – that’s the dream right there!
3. Sam Hunt – Vacation This sums up our feelings about vacation perfectly.
4. The HEYDAZE – Arnold Palmer No matter where you are, close your eyes and blast this song, and you’ll feel like you’re rockin’ an old tee under a palm tree having a good time under the sunshine.
5. Weezer – Island In The Sun We can’t hear this song and not think about being on a beach, especially since it played in the Olsen Twin movie of the same name, literally every 5 minutes.
We’re off to the beach for a week and while we’ll never stop fangirling, we won’t be posting. Here are the songs we’ll be jamming to all week. Also, it’s Summer y’all! Go outside and enjoy!
1. Jake Miller – “Rumors”
We’d like to start some rumors with Jake! There isn’t one song we skip on this surprise EP, and we can probably sing the entire thing by heart already.
2. Austin Mahone – “Dirty Work”
Austin has been busy doing some dirty work for his Mahomies, and it’s worth it! Y’know this ain’t no 9-5, we’re going sundown to sunrise. Dirty Work!
3. North of Nine – “Better Off Together”
Jackson Guthy’s voice gets better every time we see North Of Nine live, and his band never fails to bring a grin to our faces during the set. We’ll ride or die with North Of Nine any day!!
4. Nathan Sykes – “Kiss Me Quick”
Nathan’s voice is what Bruno Mars would call “smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy!” This song will for sure be on full blast all Summer long.
5. MKTO – “Bad Girls”
We’re suckers for anything with a horn section and MKTO have that covered. They just dropped an EP with the same name.
It’s boyband week over at Billboard.com, AKA the greatest thing ever. Every week should be boyband week. In honor of the occasion, Billboard staffers held a fantasy boyband draft, assembling their dream teams. For this week’s Friday Five, we decided to get in on the fun and do our own boyband draft and create 2 super boybands: J5 and *Big Time Boys on the Block°. The only rules were that you can’t pick 2 members from the same band. Check out our picks and vote for your favorite!
Team A: J5 (JC, Joey, James, Jeff and Jesse)
JC Chasez
One of the greatest male vocalists, ever. He can still hit ALL the notes, and he hasn’t aged a day since “Bye Bye Bye.”
Joey McIntyre
Just watch this performance from The Main Event Tour, and you’ll know why Joey is the MVP of any boyband. Those vocals. Those moves. Those abs.
James Maslow
We knew James was a national treasure during Big Time Rush’s run, but he further proved it in his run to the final 3 of “Dancing With The Stars.” Enjoy.
Jeff Timmons
Jeff has had the most uh, interesting post-boyband career. He brings the moves for sure. Fun fact we somehow just discovered: He was part of a “man band” on VH1 called “Sureshot” with Chris Kirkpatrick, Rich Cronin and Bryan Abrams in 2007.
Jesse McCartney
The most underrated former boyband member (Dreamstreet!). His last single, “Punch Drunk Recreation,” and the accompanying video (where J Mac basically leads his own boyband) have not gotten nearly enough love.
Team B: *Big Time Boys on the Block°
Nick Carter
Nick has had his struggles in the past but he overcame them and continues to BRING IT every night on stage giving 110% during every show. He also likes to make up his own moves on stage which is always A+ in my book.
Donnie Wahlberg
Do you watch NKOTV every week on A&E? NO?? You should. It’s the greatest night for television and you’ll see why Donnie Wahlberg is my top pick for boyband. He knows how to treat the fans, he’s great to his wife (secret fangirl: Jenny McCarthy) and his family. Plus – watch this video for further proof of A+ boybanding.
Nick Lachey
Another former boyband member who has a TV show about his own restaurant (“Raising The Bar” on A&E every Wednesday night.) Let’s face it, Nick Lachey was the best looking member of 98* and he’s been the most successful – aside from Jeff Timmons’ stripper revue.
Kendall Schmidt
Kendall has seamlessly transitioned into boyband member to acoustic singer-songwriter while not alienating any fans from either end of the spectrum. He’s got a good voice, and whether he wants to admit it or not – this boy can DANCE! Plus, he’s got great hair.
Joey Fatone
He appeared on Hannah Montana, dancing with the stars, various food critic reality shows, and he’s still the most underrated member of *N SYNC. Let’s not forget that Joey was also in “On The Line” with Lance.
One of the best things about Summer is the outdoor fairs and carnivals that pop up all over the country. And what’s a carnival without some great music? Here are some of our favorite carnival-themed videos!
1. Jordan Knight – “Give It To You” Our formative years consisted of calling into TRL constantly to vote for this video. Looking back, we totally made the right decision because this is THE only ‘carnival’ video that matters.
2. Big Time Rush – “Boyfriend”
Learn from James Diamond. If your bae can’t make it to the carnival, you can always find a nice plant to go on rides with you.
3. Mariah Carey – “Fantasy” This video is definitely a sweet, sweet fantasy, baby!
4. The Vamps – “Last Night” We love The Vamps idea for this video: let’s use our entire budget and build ourselves a carnival for the video shoot! We’d totally do the same.
5. NKOTB – “Please Don’t Go Girl”
With Wahlburgers opening in Coney Island soon, we can only hope the band stops by to re-enact scenes from this video. Can we ride the Wonder Wheel with Joey?
After months of counting down, it’s real y’all! FarmBorough Festival is here! We’ve already previewed days 1 and 2 of the festival, now it’s time to look at which artists are a must-see on Sunday.
1. The Railers – Next From Nashville Stage – 3:40pm We’ve been lucky to catch The Railers at a couple of shows with Hunter Hayes. They are one of our top artists to watch, with their gift for musicianship and chilling harmonies. Their live show is not to be missed!
2. Lindsey Ell – Main Stage – 3:30pm She’s often referred to as “the female Keith Urban” and we’ve heard nothing but high praise for her guitar skills.
3. Logan Mize – Next From Nashville Stage – 5:35pm You won’t be able to get away from a Good Time during Logan’s set!
4. Cassadee Pope – Main Stage – 4:40pm Make sure you stick around for this set from the former Voice champion and see how she blends a little pop punk with her southern roots!
5. Luke Bryan – Main Stage – 9:10pm
What better way to end the festival than shaking it in the city with Luke Bryan? Shake it for the big rats running down deep on the tracks / For the pigeons and the bankers and the squirrels / Shake it to the Bronx, shake it for me girl / City girl shake it for me now
