The Friday Five: 5 Seconds of Summer

We’re still fangirling over the news that 5SOS is releasing their second album, “Sounds Good Feels Good” in October!  Pre-orders for the album went up today(8/14) along with the release of a new track, “Fly Away!”  We’re also fangirling over the fact that our 5SOS “Rock Out With Your Socks Out” show is (finally) just 3 weeks away!  Here are 5 of our favorite 5SOS tracks .

1. “She’s Kinda Hot”
5SOS’s new single is a rock anthem for the generations.  We can’t wait to hear this live and ROCK OUT!

2.”Good Girls”
If good girls are bad girls who haven’t been caught,  are bad girls good girls who HAVE been caught?

3.”Don’t Stop”
The video for “Don’t Stop” brought out 5SOS’s inner super hero alter-egos but this song makes us feel like dancing like nobody’s around.

4. “Lost Boy”
We love the non-cheesy Peter Pan nod in this song!

5. “Social Casualty”
This song all but name drops both Greenday and All Time Low from the lyrics to the music – of course it’s one of our favorites!

5SOS Release Official Video For “Good Girls”

After teasing us with clips and stills from their latest video, Australian punk rockers 5 Seconds Of Summer finally released the full video for their new single “Good Girls”.

The video shows Calum, Michael, Luke, and Ashton as a classically trained orchestral band in a flyer but they turn up to the “Reform School For Bad Girls” looking like Angus Young from AC/DC.

If anyone’s confused whether 5SOS are a boy band or not (hint: they’re NOT) this video should prove that these guys are poised to bring guitar driven rock music back to the masses!

The Friday Five: 5 Songs Currently On Repeat

Whether we hit “replay” on our AppleTV to rewatch Sam Hunt’s live performance videos, or someone catches us humming 5SOS’s new single, we all have those songs that we can’t stop listening to.   This week’s Friday Five is a short playlist of the songs we just can’t seem to get enough of!

1. Jake Miller – First Flight Home
On the heels of his new single “First Flight Home”, Jake Miller announced that he would be playing at Miami’s Y100 Jingle Ball 2014 – something he says has been on his bucket list for a long time! Watch the official video for “First Flight Home” below.

2. Sam Hunt – Break Up In A Small Town
Sam Hunt is being billed as a “soon to be superstar”, and when we caught him opening for Kip Moore on the CMT “Up In Smoke Tour” we fully agreed.  Sam is set to play Emporium on Long Island in November and he’s one artist we will gladly go to “almost the Hamptons” for because he’s THAT good!

3. 5 Seconds Of Summer – Good Girls
Jingle Ball is the perfect exposure for the Australian pop punk band to potential fans that might not realize they actually do like guitar driven music!  5SOS are scheduled to perform at a bunch of annual jingle ball festivities around the United States in anticipation of their huge summer 2015 headlining tour!

4. North Of Nine – We Ride
Jackson Guthy’s new band North Of Nine hit the ground running with a single and a video for “We Ride”.  While the band aren’t touring just yet, they’re looking to the future and something big could be on the horizon for them.

5. Born Cages – Rolling Down The Hill
Local indie band, Born Cages are a fangirl favorite and not just because of their sleek sound, churning out catchy song after catchy song. Their latest single “Rolling Down The Hill” is getting added to a bunch of radio stations and it’s definitely a fun song during live shows!  Born Cages are slated to play two showcases at CMJ in New York this October.
