Love and Theft & Joel Crouse Fall Tour Dates!

We often complain about the lack of smaller country artists playing in NYC, because it seems like a lot of country stars only play in New York when they’re big enough to sell out MSG!   But things are looking brighter for country fans in NYC.  This summer we’ve noticed a LOT more country artists planning tour stops in the city, at venues of all sizes.   Chase Rice, Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell, Dan + Shay, Kip Moore, Love and Theft, Sam Hunt…you can see all of them in NYC this fall!

Love and Theft just announced the “Night That You’ll Never Forget Tour,” along with newcomer Joel Crouse.  Love and Theft have been nominated for ACM and CMT Awards for Duo of the Year, and are known for their singles “If You Ever Get Lonely” and “Night That You’ll Never Forget.”   Pickup a copy on iTunes now!

Joel Crouse is releasing his debut album, “Even The River Runs,” on August 19th!   Watch the lyric video for “Why God Made Love Songs” below, and pre-order a copy of the album on iTunes.

Casting the “Clueless” Musical

“Clueless” is our favorite movie of all time.  We can recite the whole movie by heart (and we quote it almost daily).

We were beyond thrilled to hear that director Amy Heckerling is working on a “Clueless” musical!  As she told Vulture, she’s already written a book and song lyrics for the show, and Katy Perry has expressed interest in being in it (I mean, who wouldn’t?!)  The show is still in the early stages, so we thought about which young stars we’d like to see star in “Clueless” on Broadway a few years down the road.  Even though they’d have some major purple clogs to fill.

Sabrina Carpenter as Cher – If you’ve seen Sabrina on “Girl Meets World,” then you know she’s got the attitude to pull off the role.  And she can sing, too!

Nat Wolff as Josh – This was a difficult choice.  Josh has to be the perfect blend of adorable, intelligent, and snarky to keep up with Cher.  Nat certainly fits the bill, and he’s both a musician and an actor.  Runner Up:  Kyle Harris.  Kyle had a short turn on “The Carrie Diaries,” and has also been in productions of “West Side Story.”

Willow Smith as Dionne – We all know she can whip her hair back and forth (polyester or not), and she’s also got the the style to pull off any of Dionne’s ensembles.  Even if she’s been shopping with Dr. Seuss.

Leon Thomas as Murray – We’ve seen Leon Thomas in Victorious and we’d love to see him stretch his acting wings as the braces wearing, head shaving,  baggy pants wearing boyfriend of Dionne.

Carly Rae Jepsen as Tai – She was the first person we thought of for Tai, maybe because she just finished a turn in “Cinderella” on Broadway.

Dave Franco as Elton – Not only is Franco a total dead-ringer for Elton, can’t you just picture him doing the “Rollin’ With the Homies” dance?

James Maslow as Christian – Let’s face it:  he’s a total Baldwin.  Plus he can sing, he can dance, he can act…what more do you want?

Chloe Bridges as Amber – Chloe practically specializes at playing frenemies – we loved her on “The Carrie Diaries” (RIP), and her latest role on “Pretty Little Liars.”  She could nail the part of Amber.

Aaron Carter as Travis – Why not?  He already has a few Broadway shows on his resume.  And we can totally picture him hanging on that grassy knoll over there.

Donnie Wahlberg as Cher’s Dad – Basically, we’d just love to see Donnie on Broadway.  He’s both a boy band member, and an actor, so he could totally nail a Broadway show.  Plus can’t you picture him saying “Cher get in here!  What the hell is that?”

We’ll let you know as soon as there are any developments on this, in the meantime you can watch “Clueless” on  Netflix.  Or just watch Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” video for the abridged version.

Taylor Swift Yahoo! Livestream August 18th

After dropping several indecipherable clues last week (which all make perfect sense now, looking back), Taylor Swift finally revealed her big news.

Taylor is having a livestream on Yahoo! on August 18th at 5pm EST.  If you’re in NYC, you can enter to win a chance to attend in person!  We’re guessing (and hoping) that she’ll be announcing some news about the new album!    Which if her usual pattern continues, should be out in October.  Taylor will also be performing at the VMAs on August 24th….maybe playing some new material?

The Friday Five: Breakup Songs

Sometimes, there is just nothing like a good breakup song, no matter what you’re going through.  They can help vent your anger, remind you to stay positive.    Here are some of our favorite breakup songs.

1.  Brandyn Burnette – “Thanks For Nothing”
Brandyn Burnette’s new single “Thanks For Nothing” shows one way to deal with a breakup.  Be positive!  That is, be positive that the person you just broke up with is, in Lauren Conrad’s words – “a sucky person!”

2. Hunter Hayes – “More Than I Should”
Hunter is so sweet that makes us wonder who broke his heart so badly that he penned one of the angriest breakup songs we’ve ever heard.   You can feel the anger in this song from the first note to the end. The guitars come in, guns blazing, while Hunter sings “I found out the hard way, I loved you more than I should”.  We always find ourselves feeling better after listening to this track!

3. Tiffany Houghton – “The Best”
Fresh music from Tiffany Houghton, this break up song is one of our new favorites.  We can’t get over how upbeat and happy the music is while Tiffany sings about the jerk who broke her heart.  Bless his heart, she’s just wishing him the best.  HA!

4. Taylor Swift – “Picture To Burn”
Oldie but a goodie from the queen of writing the songs that are the soundtrack to our young lives.  Taylor Swift knows how sucky guys can be,  but as far as she’s concerned, they’re all just another picture to burn!  Does anyone else miss Taylor’s country days?

5. Jonas Brothers – “What Do I Mean To You”
When we first heard this song last summer on tour, we had no idea that it would be the last time we’d ever see the brothers together as a band, playing music on tour and stuff.  The chorus just punches you right in the gut – like when he said those fateful four words “we need to talk”.  By the way – Kevin/Joe/Nick, WHAT DO WE MEAN TO YOU!!?

Bonus:  78 Violet (Aly & AJ) – “Potential Breakup Song” & Jonas Brothers “Move On”
You can’t talk about breakup songs without mentioning this iconic song by Aly & AJ and it’s companion song, “Move On” by Jonas Brothers.   “Move On” was never recorded, and only performed once, at Bamboozle.  But we’re sure it felt good for Joe to get that off of his chest!  They both sure seem to have issues with their stuff.  We hope you got your stuff back.

Tiffany Houghton Releases “The Best” Single

One of our favorite artists to watch, Tiffany Houghton, is currently on the American Dream Tour with MKTO and Action Item.  She just released her latest single, “The Best.”   And it’s one of the best breakup songs we’ve heard in a while.  We love the play between the upbeat song and the lyrics.  Listen to the track below!

If you’re headed to the American Dream Tour (check out the dates here) make sure you pickup a copy of the single on iTunes so you can sing along!

Austin Mahone Tour Mockumentary

We love when our favorite artists team up and go on tour together.  This summer, Austin Mahone invited The Vamps and Shawn Mendes as his opening acts for his tour, which kicked off in Texas last month.  But Austin soon realized his tourmates maybe weren’t quite who he thought they were.  Being on tour together means lots of quality time, and he got to know the “real” Brad, Connor, Tristan, James and Shawn.  What do we mean?  Watch the tour mockumentary below!

Check out all of Austin’s upcoming tour dates here!  Don’t miss your chance to see these borks in person.
