Today in daily reminders that you are old: “Hannah Montana” turned 10 yesterday. The show premiered in March 2006, following an airing of “High School Musical.” Sigh, those were the days. Miley might have killed Hannah (R.I.P.), but thankfully, her music will live on forever. And remember, life’s what you make it so let’s make it ROCK!
Let’s be real. The best thing about the internet is when people share photos and videos of their pets. We love that having an insta-famous dog is now an actual profession. Here are some of our favorite dogs to follow on social media!
1. Daily Dougie – @dailydougie
Dougie is SO CUTE! And good at internet. We had a really hard time deciding what to post for him, just do yourself a favor and go through his entire Instagram feed.
2. Marnie The Dog – @marniethedog
Marnie goes to more concerts than we do (and that’s saying a lot!) She has lots of famous friends and even had a book come out last year!
Nick Carter’s “All American” Tour is stopping in NYC this weekend, and obviously we’ll be there fangirling out. As much as we love boybands, it’s also fun when they team up or go solo for other projects. As long as they come back together (DO YOU HEAR US JT?) Here are some of our favorite solo projects and duets from boyband members. Basically, Jordan Knight should just team up with everyone.
After a week of extreme fangirling (seriously how is it always 3+ shows in one week or nothing?), we are so ready for the weekend! Starting with Fall Out Boy & PRVIS tonight at Madison Square Garden. Here’s what we’ve been jamming to all week!
Simple Plan have been cranking out pure, fun, pop-punk jams with cheeky album titles since the early 2000’s. Their most recent effort, “Taking One For The Team,” out today, is just what we were expecting from a band that surprisingly hasn’t had any lineup changes, substitutions, temporary (or “permanent”) hiatuses in their 17 year history. Pickup a copy of the new album on iTunes now!
We’re nostalgic for the days when we literally broke our Simple Plan DVD because we just HAD to watch it every single day after school, begging our parents for a MOTH or Role Model shirt.
Even when they weren’t in heavy rotation on MTV’s “TRL” anymore, Pierre, Chuck, David, Sebastien, and Jeff never quit and neither did our love of Simple Plan’s music. We had a hard time narrowing down our top five Simple Plan songs, but we did it!
1.I’d Do Anything
Great to see Mark Hoppus make a cameo in this! Never gets old.
2. Don’t Wanna Go To Bed
We love the Baywatch tribute and the boyband feel of the video.
3. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
Shout out to Blackberry phones! OH hey Rivers Cuomo guest vocal!
4. Jet Lag
Nice to see the BSB Airport is getting used for long distance love songs (Blink182 – kind of , BTR, now Simple Plan)
5. Shut Up
Oh man, remember “Making The Video”? We still remember the world premiere of this video like it was yesterday….and sing-screaming it at the top of our lungs because “parents just DON’T understand!!” They totally do though, hindsight is 20/20.
The Australian Open kicks off this weekend in Melbourne! It’s time for our annual bae-watch list. Here are some of the (many) players we’ll be rooting for for the next two weeks.
1. Borna Coric
Coric finished 2015 as the youngest player in the top 100. He is definitely one of the top young guns to watch in 2016 – he already has a win over Rafael Nadal, and played his first ATP World Tour final last week in Chennai. And is it just us or does anyone else get a little Jake Miller vibe from him?
The young American has started 2016 with a bang, beating top players Kevin Anderson and David Ferrer en route to the finals in Auckland. Jack has a powerful, aggressive forehand and the game to match. But he’s also known for his great sportsmanship, suggesting his opponent Lleyton Hewitt challenge a call during Hopman Cup last week.
P2Hugz is p2cute. He teamed up with fellow Frenchman Nicolas Mahut to win the US Open doubles trophy last Fall. The duo also made it to the finals of the 2015 Australian Open, so they will be confident playing on these familiar courts. Pierre-Hugues is also looking to qualify for the singles draw (ALLEZ!!!)

4. Taylor Fritz
Taylor is another young American player on a hot streak. Since winning the US Open Juniors title a few months ago, he has gone on to win 3 ATP Challenger titles and risen to 154 in the rankings. Fritz is also playing qualifying st this years tournament.

5. Benoit Paire
We’re not sure which Benoit will end up at this year’s tournament: the one who beat Nishikori at the US Open or the one who has on court meltdowns. But we can guarantee he’ll be entertaining to watch either way! We also suggest following him on Instagram for heart- eyes worthy photos.
The Australian Open is sadly Hewitt ‘s last tournament as a professional. We’ll be cheering Aussie Aussie Aussie OY OY OY until the last point. We expect him to go down fighting in some epic 5 set matches.
2016 is off to a great start and with so much new music to look forward to, we’re breaking it down to our Friday Five pop punk albums (and EPs) that we’re stoked about! We’ve got some oldies coming back for more, some newbies here to break new ground, and a genre that’s here to stay, saying “we’re more than just a phase, MOM!!!”
1. Good Charlotte: Untitled
Out: Spring 2016
Benji and Joel Madden are back with their original gang of misfits from Waldorf (worldwide) and are promising a new album filled with familiar sounds. No word on an official release date yet but they’ve been reawakened by the pop punk forefathers are are working with John Feldman on this new record!
2. Simple Plan: Taking One For The Team
Out: Feb 19th, 2016
Pierre, Jeff, David, Chuck, and Seb never actually stopped making albums as Simple Plan, they just flew under the radar for a few years. Now that pop punk is having a revival of sorts, they’re here to show the newbies that you can branch out and have Nelly on a pop punk album with a video that looks like a 90s boyband throwback.
3. Waterparks: Cluster Out: Jan 15th, 2015
Waterparks recently signed with Equal Vision Records and MDDN management but these guys are set to be the most promising breakout of 2016. Their new EP “Cluster” is sure to be filled with infectious hooks, sing along choruses, and melodies that’ll have you craving for more! (see what we did there?) We suggest you get on this bandwagon before it’s too late – these guys are gonna be HUGE!
4. The Starting Line – “Anyways” Out: Feb 5th, 2016
The Starting Line have been teasing new music at their annual Holiday Show for a while now but the tail end of 2015 saw the release of their first new song in SEVEN YEARS!!!! We may or may not have clutched our computers and cried while we listened to it (spoiler: we did.) “Anyways”, the EP comes out February 5th and you should get it because The Starting Line Rock (.com)!
5. SWMRS – “Drive North” Out: February 12th, 2016
Formerly known as “Emily’s Army” and featuring Joey Armstrong (yes, Billie Joe’s son & spitting image), SWMRS are the epitome of the Bay Area music scene. They match bubblegum power pop with grit of punk rock to churn out a fun perpetual summer sound all their own. Catch them on their first headlining tour this Spring! Get the dates here.
It was way too hard to narrow down all of our favorite albums this year to just 5, so we split between pop and country. Here are our favorite country albums that were released in 2016! (Okay so we picked 6, deal)
1.Thomas Rhett – “Tangled Up” Thomas rode the momentum of his hit single “Makes Me Wanna” and the funky vibes of “Crash And Burn” into an an album full of soulful, R&B tinged jams, all country at heart. “Die A Happy Man,” which Thomas wrote for his wife Lauren, will make you cry; “Vacation” will make you dance, and “I Feel Good” will turn any day around.
2. Hunter Hayes – “The 21 Project” 2015 was the year of trying new things for Hunter Hayes, including how he released music. After dropping digital singles throughout the Summer, Hunter released a 3-disc set featuring 7 songs as acoustic, studio and live versions. “Saint Or A Sinner” is one of our favorite songs of the year, no matter how we listen to it.
3. Kacey Musgraves – “Pageant Material” Kacey’s latest album sparkles just as much as she does on stage. She might not be “Pageant Material,” but she sure is great at crafting clever lyrics that anyone can relate to. Each track has a story of it’s own and they all come together to create one of our favorite country albums of 2015.
4. A Thousand Horses – “Southernality” What do you get when you mix Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers Band, and a whole lot of Southern moonshine? A Thousand Horses released the best “throwback” country rock album this year that we’ll be spinning for years to come. Standout songs are the title track, “Trailer Trashed,” and “Travelin’ Man.”
5. Old Dominion – “Meat and Candy” Even the band has commented on the strange name of their debut album but “Meat and Candy” is actually a fitting title for an album that has lots of sweet jams along with some more substantial tracks. Their live show is not to be missed.
BONUS: Cam – “Untamed” Released last week, Cam’s album barely made the cut but it’s one of the strongest debut albums we’ve heard in a long time! We’re still kicking ourselves for not picking up one of those cute yellow flash drive bracelets when we saw Cam open for Dan+Shay!
It feels like we just wrote our 2014 Albums of the Year post about 5 minutes ago, but it’s time to look back on our favorite albums of 2015! Here are our picks for our top pop albums of the year. We included 2 EPs because they were too good NOT to and we’re crossing our fingers for full albums from them next year!
1. Selena Gomez – “Revival”
After a public split from The Biebs, Selena Gomez is back! “Revival” was well worth the wait.
2. Carly Rae Jepsen – “E·MO·TION” Carly Rae is easily one of the most underestimated pop artists, and one that certainly knows how to make a throwback album that sounds like it came straight out of the 80s. (in a good way)
3. The Vamps – “Wake Up” The Vamps are poised to take over America with their new album and it’s about time – they’re so good!
4. Hilary Duff – “Breathe In, Breathe Out” Hilary Duff’s 5th studio album was well worth the (long!) wait.
5. DNCE – “SWAAY” This EP makes us want to sway and dance to every song! We can’t wait for a full album from Joe, Cole, JinJoo, and Jack.
5. Jake Miller – “Rumors” This EP was one of our favorites that came out in 2015 – every track is a JAM! We’re anxious for new music from Jake Miller.
If you, like us, were already sick of hearing Taylor Swift’s version of “Last Christmas” by Noon on Black Friday, here are some Holiday jams that we never get sick of! (Really, let’s just keep *NSYNC’s “Home For Christmas” album on repeat for the next 3 weeks)
1. “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by *NSYNC
2. “Merry Christmas Baby” by Hunter Hayes
3. “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Dan + Shay
4. “Fa La La” by Justin Bieber featuring Boyz II Men
