Album Review: The Faim – “State Of Mind”

Australia’s latest export, The Faim are kicking off a massive tour with fellow Aussie pop punk band, Stand Atlantic hitting cities across North America and both bands are poised to take the American scene by storm.  The Faim just dropped their hotly anticiapted debut album, “State Of Mind” today, Friday, September 13th via BMG and we can’t wait to see them translate these songs to their high octane live shows!

Consisting of lead singer Josh Raven, bassist/keyboardist Stephen Beerkens, guitarist Samuel Tye, and Drummer Linden Marissen, The Faim’s debut album brings together all of the elements they’ve showcased in previous releases like “Saints of the Sinners,” “Midland Line,” and “My Heart Needs To Breathe.” The record perfectly displays the band’s ability to seamlessly flow from big gang vocal choruses in “Humans” to arena sized tracks that would be right at home in MSG like “Buying Time” which echoes early Panic! At The Disco.

“We wanted to show the variety of skills between the four of us,” says Stephen. “We wanted to stick true to our roots and where we came from, which is essentially just us being able to explore the passion and love we have for music,” Josh adds. “But we also wanted to experiment and to have fun with the songs.”

The record also features tracks like “Tongue Tied,” which is a heart pumping radio friendly track along side piano driven, introspective tracks like “Infamous” and “Where The River Runs.”  The band’s influences are prominent and frequently displayed with co-writes from the likes of Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, Ashton Irwin from 5SOS, and Mark Hoppus from Blink 182.

The title track, “State Of Mind” closes out the record with singer Josh Raven forecully begging the listener “take a seat and let me introduce myself…” and flows along like a burning river of emotion.  The track clocks in at 4:41 making it the longest song on the record with a searing guitar solo to finish out an incredible debut effort from one of the most promising new Australian bands.

Show Review: The Faim Electrify NYC

Australia is on a hot streak with exports and their latest, The Faim, are bringing their brand of pop rock with a side of on stage charisma that could fill an arena.  We caught them at the Gramercy Theatre on their tour opening for Andy Black, which wraps up this week in Virginia Beach.

Armed with an arsenal of new music and enough energy to power Manhattan, The Faim are here and they will not be ignored.  Frontman Josh Raven commanded the stage with swagger and poise, drawing the crowd in from the start, even walking off the stage and connecting directly with the crowd in the middle of the pit.

The Faim, singer Josh, guitarist Sam Tye, bassist/keyboardist Stephen Beerkens, and drummer Linden Marissen felt more like the headliner than an opener but we bet they’ll be in that headliner slot sooner rather than later.

They will be back in Australia and Europe over the Summer.  Check out all of their upcoming tour dates here!   We’re hoping to see them back in the States soon!

The Faim Release New Single “Summer Is A Curse”

Just in time for Summer, Australia’s latest export, The Faim, dropped a brand new track called “Summer Is A Curse.”  Co-written by Ashton Irwin from 5SOS, the new track is a sweeping emotional hit. When asked about the new song, “‘Summer Is a Curse’ is about taking the leap into a make or break situation that could grow into the beginning of a new era, or cause the end of what could’ve been. It’s about the paths that we take, the dreams that we have, and the things we leave behind to reach them.”

This is just the beginning for The Faim.  They’ve teamed up with Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, TwentyOne Pilots’ Josh Dun, as well as legendary producer John Feldmann for their highly anticipated album!

Artist To Watch: THE FAIM

The FAIM are taking the midland line all the way from Australia to steal every spot on your playlist in 2018.   Aptly described by Rock Sound Magazine as “coated in glorious sunshine,” the band’s latest track, “Midland Line” features a gold hued video to certify their Summer bop status.  The FAIM is comprised of lead singer Josh Raven, lead guitarist/bassist/vocalist Michael Bono, bassist/keyboardist Stephen Beerkens, and drummer/percussionist Sean Tighe.  The Faim’s first single, “Saints And Sinners” has a dark glam rock heavy twist while their latest two track, “Midland Line” and “Summer Is A Curse” are significantly lighter and brighter while still packing a punch.

Starting Saturday April 21st, The FAIM are heading home to Australia to kick off a round of tour dates with Sleeping With Sirens and a few special dates with Tyler Posey’s latest project, PVMNTS, as well as playing some massive festival dates in Europe like the famed Download Festival, Reading and Leeds, and Slam Dunk!  Check out all of The FAIM’S tour dates below.
