5 Seconds of Summer Announce Show At The Forum in Los Angeles!

While you were probably running around NYC trying to stay one step ahead of the four Aussies in 5SOS, they announced a huge headlining show in Los Angeles!  They’re going to be playing at the historic arena The Forum on November 15th, by far their biggest headlining show to date.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, July 26th AT The Forum Box office in LA.  That’s right – they’re having an old school on sale, and you’ll need to physically go to the box office at on Saturday for the first chance at tickets.   You can lineup at the venue no earlier than 3AM on Saturday morning when gates open.    Wristbands will be distributed starting at 7AM for those in line to buy tickets.  And remember:  once you’re out of line, there’s no getting back in!    Tickets will be available to purchase from 11AM.  There is a 4 ticket limit per person, and cash and major credit cards will be accepted.

5SOS know what it’s like to be a fangirl parent, so they will have a waiting area with food and beverages set up by 7AM!   There will also be a truck selling the album and special merchandise.  And you never know – the guys might just pop by to say hello!   Check out 5SOS’s website for all the details on the onsale.

THE HEYDAZE Announce Summer Tour Dates!

NYC based trio THE HEYDAZE, part of the iHeartRadio & Macy’s Rising Star lineup for 2014,  haven’t been around for that long but we have no doubts that you’ll be hearing a lot from these guys in the future.  THE HEYDAZE just had their first headlining show at New York’s Webster Hall last week – and it was a sold out show!

We love their catchy pop sound and energy. (Seriously, listen to “Little Bandit” once and you’ll be singing it for the next several days.  We guarantee it.)   Watch the video for their new single “Young Blood” below!

Brandyn Burnette Releases Video for “Thanks For Nothing”

Even if you haven’t heard of Brandyn Burnette yet, chances are you’ve heard one of his songs.   He’s written for artists like MKTO, Jake Miller, and Hot Chelle Rae, just to name a few, including their recent hits like “Heartbreak Holiday,” “First Flight Home” and “Don’t Say Goodnight.”   See what we mean?   Brandyn clearly knows more than a thing or two about writing a catchy pop song, and calls to mind other hit-makers turned solo artists (think Sia, Bruno Mars…)  He is definitely one to watch in 2014!

Brandyn is launching his career as a solo artist, with his first single, “Thanks For Nothing.”   When the song starts, you think it’s going to be a ballad…but then the chorus kicks in and it really packs a punch!   The unexpected, upbeat twist makes for one of the best breakup anthems we’ve ever heard.

New York Mets Summer ’14 Concert Series: Boyz II Men and Austin Mahone!

We try to go to a couple of baseball games each summer.  And what better time to go than when the team is hosting a post-game concert?   The New York Mets have a tradition of summer concerts, which in previous years have included Third Eye Blind and 50 Cent.  But we are extra excited about this year’s lineup, as it includes some of our faves:  90s boy band Boyz II Men, and the one man boy band Austin Mahone!

Any ticket to the game will get you admission to the post-game show, and in the past artists have played near-full sets (around 10 songs).    Visit the Met’s website for more info.

The Vamps Free Acoustic Show Wednesday 7/23 at New Jersey’s Garden State Plaza!

The Friday Five: Timeless Summer Jams

Every year, it seems one song and one alone must be anointed the “Song of the Summer.”  While this year’s SOS is still under debate (we’ve already shared our picks!), we prefer those songs you can play year after year that will instantly transport you to summer.

1.  LFO – “Summer Girls”
This was a huge hit for the Lyte Funky Ones in the summer of ’99.  The lyrics made no sense, but that’s part of the beauty of this song and it’s educational pop cultural references. (Macauley Culkin was in “Home Alone.”)  We wonder how many guys have tried the line “you look like a girl from Abercrombie & Fitch.”

2. New Kids On the Block – “Summertime”
Jones Beach 1998.  Come on! New Kids on the Block have a bunch of hits, like their first official single after their reunion 2008!  This was one of the most exciting things to have ever happened in fan girl history.

3. Aaron Carter featuring Baha Men – “Summertime”
Nothing screams summer like AC and the Baha Men hangin’ with the honeys and enjoying the sun. 

4. Selena Gomez – “Summer’s Not Hot”
The temperature says 99 and it can get much hotter so come on over Romeo and Vamos a la playa!

5. Jessie James – “Boys In The Summer”
Because we totally agree, boys DO look so much hotter in the summer.  The video for this is everything summer should be – swimming in a lake with your friends and driving around in an open top jeep singing at the top of your lungs.

Hunter Hayes To Perform on The Today Show August 22nd!

We are so excited that Hunter Hayes will be back in NYC in August! Hunter was just added to the lineup for the Today Show Toyota Summer Concert Series on August 22nd.  Make sure you tune in at 8AM to watch, or if you’re in NYC head to Rockefeller Plaza (early!) to catch the concert!

Not in NYC?  Hunter wants to give you a chance to come to the show, too!  You can enter to win the ultimate summer concert experience:  a trip to New York to meet Hunter and catch his Today Show performance in person!  All proceeds from the contest will go to the Grammy Foundation, to support music education, and you can get rewards like a signed lyric sheet or campaign t-shirt.   Watch Hunter’s contest announcement below!

Artist To Watch: Derik Fein

It’s still early in Derik Fein‘s journey into the pop music world and he’s already crushing it!  The Miami, FL native recently performed on NBC,  has a loyal following of over 260,000 “Feiners” on Twitter, and his newest single “Funeral of Hearts” has been enjoying some serious success lately.  Derik blends some unique influences creating incredibly catchy Jason Mraz meets Adam Levine pop music.  The acoustic guitar driven “Funeral Of Hearts” showcases Derik’s guitar work and ability to craft an unforgettable song.  We found ourselves singing along by the end!
