Silverstein Sell Out Webster Hall

Celebrating 20 years as a band is a milestone many dream of and even fewer achieve.  Canada’s own alt rockers Silverstein have been packing in the fans for two decades and hope to continue rocking for another 20 years!  They celebrated their 20 year anniversary and the release of their new album, “A Beautiful Place To Drown” with a sold out show at Webster Hall in NYC.

Ottawa bred and road tested, Silverstein laid everything they have on stage playing three sets – one set full of new and classic hits, one acoustic set, and finally a full album set for “Discovering The Waterfront.”  Feeding off the high octane energy of the sold out NYC crowd, the band gave the fans a greatest hits run including new favorites like “Burn It Down” and “Infinite” from their new record, “A Beautiful Place To Drown,” as well as classic favorites like “The Afterglow,” “A Great Fire,” and a medley of their record “This Is How The Wind Shifts.”

As he strummed the opening chords of “Massachusetts,” for the stripped down second set of the night, lead singer Shane Told exclaimed to the NYC audience, “Boston thought that was the end of the show and left so thanks for sticking around!”

Silverstein hit all of the bittersweet spots with tracks like “Toronto,” “Still Dreaming,” and the emotional “Aquamarine.”  We definitely shed a few tears when he spoke about how difficult it was coming back to certain tracks like “Aquamarine” that was written at one of the darkest points in his life.

Picking it back up, they dove right into the reason we gathered together on Friday night, the full album play through of their sophomore record, “Discovering The Waterfront.” You could tell what the album meant to everyone in the room and the sing along reached a fever pitch during “My Heroine” with the crowd drowning out the band at one point.

The energy in the room was off the charts, the band and crowd both feeding off each other was such a treat.  Silverstein are proving that you can have a decades spanning career and still churn out new hits and old favorites in the same show without alienating anyone.

Silverstein’s 9th studio record, “A Beautiful Place To Drown” is now available on streaming platforms worldwide and are in the midst of an extensive 20 year anniversary tour with I The Mighty, and Four Year Strong.  Grab your tickets to the remaining tour dates HERE while they last!

Chase Atlantic Sell Out Webster Hall in NYC

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!  OY OY OY!  Chase Atlantic brought their massive headlining “PHASES Tour” to Webster Hall in New York City last week and the boys sold the place out!  Newly independent up-and-coming artist, Lauren Sanderson kicked off the night and comanded the stage like the rockstar she is.  Breezing through new tracks and old favorites like “Electric,” “Differently,” “Hotel Room,” and “Better Anyway,” Lauren got the crowd pumped up and won over lots of new fans.

IMG_0127 copy

Clinton, Christian, Mitchel, Pat, and Jesse took the stage and it was like the stars aligned and the energy in the room went from a solid 8 to infinity and beyond! Chase Atlantic are known for giving their all during every show, but Webster Hall has a history of pulling out THE BEST shows from artists. Maybe it’s the NYC crowds that are superior, or maybe it’s the water, but this was hands down the best Chase Atlantic show we have ever seen!

mitty_phasesNYC_23july2019

They burned through an extensive setlist mixing old favorites like “The Walls” and “Friends” with new tracks like “Angels” and “Heaven And Back” keeping the energy at a solid 10 all night long.  Mitchel covered the stage back and forth without missing a beat and Christian took to an inflatable pool raft to crowd surf towards the end of the set.  Clinton’s saxaphone solos brought down the house every chance he got!

The Vamps Throw “Wake Up” Release Party In NYC

The Vamps played one final show for the year at Webster Hall in NYC, in celebration of the release of their sophomore album, “Wake Up.”   The show was one big party from start to finish, as Brad, James, Connor and Tristan played tracks from the new album along with their hit singles.  The energetic crowd knew every word and shouted and danced along with the band all night.

P1380559

Near the middle of the set, the band announced they were going to do something “they’d never done before” as Brad moved from the stage to a box in the middle of the crowd.  He then played a solo, acoustic, unplugged rendition of “Shout It Out.”   It turned into a nice, intimate singalong for everyone.

P1380674

It’s hard to believe The Vamps first headlining show (ever!) was in NYC nearly 2 years ago.  They’ve come a long way since then as a band – they’ve sold out the O2 Arena in London, gone on full arena tours around the world all while still remaining their silly selves and good friends.

P1380539

The Vamps are fun to watch live because of the incredible energy they bring to every show.  They added in new instrumental parts to songs that displayed their musicianship and ability to keep their show fresh every night.  The guys even rearranged their hit song “Last Night” into a rousing and fun filled ska song that had the entire audience on their feet.

P1380697

Near the end of their set, the band took time to do a Q&A with the audience answering all their fans’ burning questions from what’s their favorite pizza topping (Con likes chicken) to what song means the most to them (Brad said “Coming Home”).

Heffron Drive’s “Happy Mistakes Unplugged Tour” Swings Into NYC

Heffron Drive kicked off their Summer mini-tour last night in front of a sold out crowd at NYC’s Webster Hall.  The tour is in support of the “Happy Mistakes Unplugged” album that bandmates Kendall Schmidt and Dustin Belt released earlier this year.   They played the full album from start to finish on acoustic guitars, bringing their full band along for the show.  The enthusiastic crowd sang along to every word.   You could tell it was an album they had lived with for a while.  Kendall and Dustin were appreciative of their support, thanking them for being there and that they could tell the crowd appreciated the band coming out as well.  It was a love fest all around.

P1260129

When it comes to crowd interaction, artists either have it or they don’t.  Heffron Drive completely nailed it, responding to whatever the crowd shouted out without missing a beat, having small conversations with fans near the stage, and taking time to introduce each song.  It made the show seem even more personal and intimate.

P1260082

Highlights of the set included a stripped down performance of “Could Be Home,” which Kendall performed solo.  He said he wanted to have at least one track on the album that had “one vocal, one guitar, one take.”   More up-tempto tracks like “Had To Be Panama” and “Nicotine” had the whole place rocking, acoustic or not.  The album features a duet with Kendall’s Big Time Rush bandmate Logan Henderson, who sadly wasn’t available for the show to sing his part.  But no worries – the crowd filled in for his parts on “Passing Time” just fine!

Watch AJR’s “Woody Allen” Video

AJR just dropped the music video for their new single, “Woody Allen.”  They filmed the video earlier this month at Webster Hall, at the release show for their album, “Living Room.”   The video, filmed using a GoPro camera, shows off the energy of AJR’s live show, mixed with clips of the man himself, Woody Allen.  Watch the video below!

AJR Celebrate “Living Room” Release at Webster Hall

Indie pop band AJR released their debut album, Living Room, earlier this week, and celebrated with a concert at NYC’s Webster Hall last night.  The album has been a long time coming for brothers Adam, Jack and Ryan, who got their start by busking around New York.  Those experiences certainly influence their performing style – they’ve mastered the ability to win over a crowd with their energetic playing style.

P1160199

AJR promised this wouldn’t be a typical show, and they had quite a few surprises in store last night.  Using a GoPro camera and a selfie stick, they filmed a music video for the fan favorite, “Woody Allen” during their set.  We can’t wait to see how it turned out!   They also took crowd interaction to a whole new level when they played their new single “Infinity.”  Drums were placed just in front of the stage, and Jack passed out drum sticks to the lucky fans in the front row so they could drum along with him.  He later jumped into the crowd after a serious drum-off between the three brothers during “Pitchfork Kids.”  They also invited surprise guest  Alex Wolff on stage to play guitar for “Big White Bed.”

P1160226

They played every track off of “Living Room,” and the packed crowd was singing along to every word, even the Overture.  It was fun to see the album come to life on stage, and celebrate how far AJR has come.  “Living Room” showcases AJR’s wide range and unique sound – from the mellow “Growing Old On Bleecker Street” to “Big Idea,” with it’s layered loops and lightening fast verses.  We’re glad that “The Green And The Town” made the album, thanks to the support of their fans, as it’s one of our favorite tracks!

P1160394

AJR is proof that if you have a Big Idea (pro tools and a mic), you can do anything you like.
