We can’t stop fangirling because JT is back with a new song! And we didn’t have to wait 7 years for more music from Justin this time! The new track, “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” is the first from the upcoming “Trolls” movie soundtrack, which JT is creating. The feel good song will have you dancing along in no time (seriously, try to resist) and just might be the Song of the Summer. Watch the video below featuring the cast of “Trolls.”
Pickup a copy of “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” on iTunes now and get excited for more new music form JT when the “Trolls” soundtrack drops in September.
It’s Super Bowl time once again and while the ads are fun (remember the Tim Tebow one with the puppies?) the halftime show is what we’re all watching for…right? Coldplay is set to perform this year, along with some special guests. In honor of Sunday’s game, we’re throwing it back to our five favorite halftime shows! Which reminds us: how have Backstreet Boys not done a halftime show? Can someone get on that for 2017?
1. *NSYNC, Britney Spears, & Aerosmith – 2001
THE GREATEST HALFTIME SHOW OF ALL TIME.
2. NKOTB – 1991
This one’s for the children.
3. Shania Twain & No Doubt – 2003 Not sure what the theme was here, but what’s not to like? Shania Twain? Good. No Doubt? Good. Let’s go football fans!
4. Justin Timberlake & Janet Jackson – 2004
If they had just had *NSYNC perform again, that whole wardrobe malfunction wouldn’t have happened, just saying.
5. Beyonce & Destiny’s Child – 2013
Like JT briefly acknowledged *NSYNC at the VMAs in 2013, Beyonce brought back Destiny’s Child for a hot second at the halftime show the same year.
The Shadowboxers are on the fast track to the top with endorsements from the likes of Justin Timberlake and Hunter Hayes, even getting the chance to jam with Hunter at the Spotify Spotlight showcase. The band, consisting of Adam Hoffman, Matt Lipkins, Scott Schwartz, Carlos Enamorado, and Cole McSween, hail from Atlanta, Georgia and are a self-described “soulful pop band” with tons of potential and a bright future ahead.
Their upbeat, R&B twinged country sound and on point harmonies make their powerful debut album, “Red Room” the perfect collection of songs to keep us warm when the temperatures dip below freezing in NYC.
Watch a live session of “You’re All I Need” from Nashville, TN below.
The Shadowboxers also just announced a short tour along the East Coast in January and February starting in Alabama, looping through the North East, and back down to North Carolina. Check out the dates below and get your tickets now!

This week mark’s the 15th anniversary of one of the greatest albums of all time – *NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached.” We have fond memories of pre-ordering the CD at Sam Goody, running to the mall after school the day it came out to pick it up. And of course, you weren’t cool unless you brought the album with you the next day and fangirled over the pictures of your favorite (JC and Lance) in the CD booklet! In honor of this momentous occasion, here are our favorite songs from “No Strings Attached.” We recommend celebrating by watching *NSYNC: Live from Madison Square Garden and dancing along.
1. “Bye Bye Bye”
Everything about this song is amazing. The dance moves, the video, that note JC hits?
2. “It’s Gonna Be Me”
The origin of *NSYNC’s signature slow lean and pop.
3. “I Thought She Knew”
*NSYNC were known for their moves and style, but this track proved they could SING. We get chills every time we listen to it. If we ever get to hear this live (Which we will because a reunion tour will happen.) we will be in tears.
4. “It Makes Me Ill”
Don’t you feel awesome when you can sing along to that quick verse at the beginning?
5. “Digital Get Down”
Basically, *NSYNC sang about Face Time before it was even a thing.
Bonus: “Space Cowboy” feat. Lisa Left Eye Lopes
Yes, they rode mechanical bulls during this song on tour.
It’s tearing up our hearts that an *NSYNC reunion hasn’t happened yet. But we are never giving up hope. Especially since the band members are all still friends – Lance revealed on Watch What Happens Live that the guys have a group text and talk almost every day. (!!!!) Last night, E! aired a special on Lance Bass’ wedding to Michael Turchin. It was a beautiful ceremony, and a historic moment, and we’re so glad that Lance and Michael shared with us all. Oh, and how amazing was it seeing Joey and JC? (Chris was there too but we only caught a brief glimpse of him) We’re still fangirling over JC’s role as the “wedding singer.” He hasn’t aged a day (sorry Justin, but he was always our fave), and it reminded us just how much we need to see JC, and the rest of the guys, on stage again.
So while we wait for that reunion tour announcement (seriously, the amount we would be willing to pay for tickets to that tour increases daily), watch our favorite *NSYNC videos and try not to drive yourself crazy wanting them back.
1. “I Drive Myself Crazy”
We used to re-enact this video, which we had recorded on a VHS tape. So many great moments: Lance and his flowers. Justin’s hair. JC’s eyes (swoon)
2. “Bye Bye Bye”
We voted for this video on TRL EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. If you claim to not know the “Bye Bye Bye” dance, you are lying.
3. “Pop”
All that matters is that you recognize that’s it’s just about RESPECT!
4. “It’s Gonna Be Me”
The video that launched the signature “lean and pop” move (now replicated by the one-man boyband Austin Mahone)
5. “I Want You Back”
We prefer the European version of the video, which takes place in space, and has the guys in tight tops and baggy waggy pants.
BONUS: “U Drive Me Crazy”
Another European video. Just watch it, we can’t even explain.
It’s hard to believe that we’re already nearing the end of summer. (Seriously, how is Labor Day next weekend?!) Which means you’ve got just a couple weeks left to find (or enjoy) that summer romance. Here’s the soundtrack to your summer love.
1. “19 You + Me” – Dan+Shay
This nostalgic track paints the picture of a perfect summer romance. From sweet tea kissin’ to that first dance in the sand, just listening to this song makes you feel like you’re spending a hot day on Myrtle Beach back in 19–.
2. “Alice By The Hudson” – AJR
One of AJR’s biggest influences are The Beach Boys, and you can certainly hear it in this track. “Alice By The Hudson” sounds like a modern day update of the ultimate summer love song, “Surfer Girl.”
3. “Young Love” – Jesse McCartney
We’re loving the retro-pop vibes of JMAC’s new album, “In Technicolor.” A great love (or a great love song) will make you feel like you’re 17 again.
4. “Shower” – Becky G
This catchy track is everything you’d want in a summer romance, and will have you dancing in the mirror and singing in the shower.
5. “Vacation” – Sam Hunt
Okay, so this is more of a love song to summer itself and an ode to being on vacation. A reminder that you’ve got 2 weeks of summer left: use them well.
Phase V is truly a modern boy band, or as they call themselves an “urban-pop boy band.” We love that they are a boy band in the classic sense of the word: They sing, they dance, they sing while they dance – they’ve got it! (The right stuff.) Phase V’s brand new single, “Drop It” is out now and it’s everything you need in a summer jam. As fangirls of 90s boy bands, it’s safe to say that Phase V might be our new favorite artist to come out the recent 90s resurgence.
Be sure to pick up a copy of Phase V’s “Drop It” on iTunes and Amazon. Watch the official video below.
We hope these guys go on tour soon (and play in NYC) because we’re going to need to experience their smooth harmonies and sharp dance moves in person! They also did a cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing,” which we’ve always said would sound great with a 5-part harmony.
Summer Fridays are in full swing, and we can’t wait for the weekend! Here’s what we’re listening to this week.
1. Austin Mahone – “Secret”
We’ve decided this is the official SecretFangirls.com theme song. We lost it when Austin performed this at Summer Jam last weekend, and are so glad someone caught it on video, because his choreography is ON POINT (as always). We don’t call him the one man boy band for nothing.
2. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – “And We Danced”
We saw Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Hammerstein Ballroom over two weeks ago. And we danced, and we laughed, and we cried, and had a really really really good time. And it was such a party that we are still finding random pieces of confetti everywhere.
3. Justin Timberlake – “Not a Bad Thing”
While we’ve always said this song would sound amazing as a 5-part harmony (ahem *NSYNC you can cover this on your reunion tour), it’s just as beautiful with JT.
4. Midnight Red – “Hell Yeah”
Okay, so we had this song on last week’s Friday Five. But we’ve seen Midnight Red twice this week, so this song has been permanently stuck in our heads (and we’re totally okay with it).
5. Victoria Justice – “Gold”
We know that Victoria is focusing on her acting projects now, but we miss her music! We especially love this single, “Gold,” and are hoping that we will still get a full album sometime soon!
Back in the late 90s and early aughts, the Backstreet Boys vs *NSYNC feud was a very real thing. Across the world, middle school girls everywhere (OK and elementary, high school and college..) pledged their allegiance to one boy band, and one alone. This was even more serious than choosing a faction in Divergent. Did you prefer JT’s crunchy bleached curls? Or Nick’s platinum bowl cut? It was one or the other, you couldn’t have both.
We always (not so) secretly loved both bands. If anyone asked it was all about *NSYNC, but we loved Backstreet just as much and still do. I guess you could say that we are Divergent: we are simply not made to love just one boy band. Each group offered something different: where would we be without JC hitting that note in “Bye Bye Bye?” And Nick in “I Want It That Way?”
We loved *NSYNC’s dance moves and swag (it takes guts to pull off a down vest filled with cash and silver lipstick) and Backstreet Boys harmonies and over the top music videos.
But it’s not 1999 anymore, it’s 2014. Can’t we all just get along? There is more than enough boy band love to go around!
You can catch Backstreet Boys on their In a World Like This Tour across North America this summer, as well as Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 World Tour! And you know we are never giving up hope for that *NSYNC reunion tour…
Be sure to follow *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and each and every boy band that is your fire and one true desire on Twitter for more updates!
After the *NSYNC reunion at the VMAS (our favorite moment of 2013!) we couldn’t get enough of them. Thanks to YouTube, the Disney *NSYNC special is easily found, as is their Madison Square Garden concert (although we have that one on DVD) and this video which was released only in Europe, “Drive Me Crazy.”
Which led us to finally reading Lance Bass’ memoir, the perfectly titled “Out of Sync.” This book is a must read for any *NSYNC fan, as it reveals much about the boys’ climb to fame, the truth about that Backstreet Boys feud, and how Lance managed to handle screaming girls throwing themselves at him every night (easy: he just wasn’t interested).
Here’s what we learned from reading.
1. The Backstreet Boys vs *NSYNC feud was totally fake and orchestrated by Lou Pearlman, who would make up things to tell each band. (“Chris Kirpatrick said AJ McLean couldn’t sing!”)
2. Lance Bass once ripped up a $100,000 check and walked out of a meeting. Why? They’d had the number one album for weeks and had been touring non stop yet Pearlman was keeping most of the profits for himself as the “sixth member of the band.”
3. Lance went through a LOT of training to go into space. For starters, he had voluntary heart surgery to fix a minor problem. He also spent months learning rocket science in Russia, meaning he had to go through all of his training in Russian. Now, THAT’S dedication!!
4. Unfortunately due to networks pulling out and taking away funding (“it just wouldn’t look good for our sponsors if you died”) and JT’s continual delays of the bands’ reunion as he worked on his solo album, Lance never made it to space. We’re hoping now that space tourism is a thing, he’ll finally get the chance to go!
5. Chris and JT were the biggest ladies men on the road.
6. Before *NSYNC, JT and JC, who knew each other from the Mickey Mouse Club, were working on a project as a duo when they got a call from Chris Kirkpatrick. (Can this still happen?)
7. We can all thank Chris Kirkpatrick for getting rejected from the Backstreet Boys and going on to form *NSYNC.
Grab your copy on Amazon today! While you impatiently wait for that *NSYNC reunion, be sure to check out Justin Timberlake on tour!
