Eye Candy To Premiere on MTV January 12th!

If you watched the “Pretty Little Liars” ChristmAs special, then you probably caught the promo for MTV’s upcoming show “Eye Candy.”  All we knew about the show before seeing the commercial was that it starred Victoria Justice, filmed in NYC, and was based on an R.L. Stine book.  But after watching the perfectly creepy preview, we think we might have just found another PLL-worthy show to obsess over.  (Or, at least a replacement for our beloved “Twisted.” R.I.P.)  Watch the promo for “Eye Candy” below!

The show premieres on MTV on January 12th at 10pm.  We’re excited to see our girl Victoria back on screen!  She’s been busy filming nonstop since wrapping up the Summer Break Tour with Big Time Rush last year.  While we hope one day she’ll decide to relaunch her music career (Billboard agrees!), we’re looking forward to “Eye Candy” and her upcoming movie “Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List.”

The Friday Five: July 4th Playlist

It’s a holiday weekend and no matter what your plans are, let’s celebrate #Murica with these five songs that should definitely be on your 4th of July playlist.

1. “Young in America” – Danielle Bradbery
There is nothing more American than country music, and we love the new single from country’s sweetheart Danielle Bradbery.  The video features the common #Merica theme of a road trip, with lots of American flags waving.

2.  “Light Me Up” – Hunter Hayes
“Baby you light me up like the fireworks flying on the 4th of July!”  Hunter will be performing on the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC this year, and we hope he’ll be bringing back this track from his  “Encore” album, and playing his new single “Tattoo!”  Since most of the East Coast will be dealing with Hurricane Arthur tomorrow, at least now you won’t have to feel bad if your July 4th plans revolve around staying in to watch Hunter perform!   Other performers include Miranda Lambert, Ariana Grande & Lionel Richie.

3. “American Dream” – MKTO
MKTO’s American Dream Tour got its name from their new single, which the guys just performed on Good Morning America.  But this isn’t the same summer song you used to know.  MKTO question what ever happened to the American Dream, and why Jack left Diane.  They were Born to Run Cali here we come.  (The song is also extremely catchy and quotable…sounds like the perfect summer song to us!)

4. “Made in The USA” – Demi Lovato
As far as “songs about America” go, this one was made to be on your 4th of July playlist.  Name dropping Chevy?  Check. Because aren’t all good things “Made in the USA?” Demi’s video for this song is also very American:  girl meets boy at a carnival and they fall in love. What’s more American than meeting the love of your life at a carnival!?  Nothing. That’s what.

5.  “Make It In America” – Victoria Justice
This is the ultimate summer road trip song and video, featuring the entire cast of Victorious!  Another requisite for making a #Merica song is apparantly referencing “Born to Run.”  Which should already be on your playlist.  “I wanna taste the sun case baby I’m Born to Run!”

BONUS: “Party In The USA” – Miley Cyrus
No matter how hard she tries….Miley will never be able to erase this song from the internet or her discography.  It reaches the Top 10 on iTunes every 4th of July so she can’t complain too much.  This song had a bunch of parodies and spoofs but our favorite is “Party In The F.I.P.”  Watch it below in case you’ve been under a rock for the past 5 years.

The Friday Five: Top Songs of the Week

Summer Fridays are in full swing, and we can’t wait for the weekend!  Here’s what we’re listening to this week.

1. Austin Mahone – “Secret”
We’ve decided this is the official SecretFangirls.com theme song.  We lost it when Austin performed this at Summer Jam last weekend, and are so glad someone caught it on video, because his choreography is ON POINT (as always).  We don’t call him the one man boy band for nothing.

2. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – “And We Danced”
We saw Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at the Hammerstein Ballroom over two weeks ago.   And we danced, and we laughed, and we cried, and had a really really really good time.  And it was such a party that we are still finding random pieces of confetti everywhere.

3. Justin Timberlake – “Not a Bad Thing”
While we’ve always said this song would sound amazing as a 5-part harmony (ahem *NSYNC you can cover this on your reunion tour), it’s just as beautiful with JT.

4. Midnight Red – “Hell Yeah”
Okay, so we had this song on last week’s Friday Five.  But we’ve seen Midnight Red twice this week, so this song has been permanently stuck in our heads (and we’re totally okay with it).

5. Victoria Justice – “Gold”
We know that Victoria is focusing on her acting projects now, but we miss her music!  We especially love this single, “Gold,” and are hoping that we will still get a full album sometime soon!

The Friday Five: Our Favorite Tour Lineups

There is nothing better than seeing your favorite artist on tour.   Except when two or more of your favorites team up – then it’s pretty much guaranteed to fall into the best concert EVER category. Or as NKOTBSB billed it:  One Night.  One Stage.  Once in a Lifetime. (or in our case, 3 times.)  Here are some of our favorite tour lineups!

1.  NKOTBSB (New Kids on the Block & Backstreet Boys)
Basically the greatest tour of all time.   Sure anything with these two acts would be amazing.  But the way the show was arranged, with alternate medleys of songs from each group, kept the audience thrilled from start to finish. And they played every song you’d ever want to hear – just giving the fans what they want.  If you’ve never seen Backstreet Boys perform “Everybody” live, you’re missing out! The choreography, set list, stage, everything about this tour was amazing.  It took everyone back in time , be it 1989 or 1999.

2.  The Best of Both Worlds Tour (Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus)
It’s been years and we still aren’t sure how we managed to snag tickets to this one (as we say in our Fangirl Handbook, we refuse to buy resale tickets!)  But we were there, on the floor, and it was even 10 times more awesome than it looked in the 3D movie. We’d seen Jonas Brothers a couple of times before, but this tour was when they really hit their stride and exploded. And this tour was truly a once in a lifetime event.  Especially now that Hannah Montana is dead.

3. The Package Tour (New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees & Boyz II Men)
We love NKOTB and their boy band posse. They recruited newly reunited 98 degrees and Boyz II Men for the appropriately titled “Package Tour.” Once again, NKOTB nailed the set, stage, choreography, etc. They’re older now, as are their fans, so they’re at a point when everyone can just relax, have fun and have the time of their lives.  It’s a beautiful thing.  We’re so glad NKOTB reunited and are better than ever!

4. Summer Break Tour (Big Time Rush, Victoria Justice, Jackson Guthy & Olivia Somerlyn)
The perfect name for the perfect summer tour.   We’re huge Victoria and BTR fans so we were thrilled to see them team up!  Openers Jackson Guthy and Olivia Somerlyn were fun opening acts who had us singing and dancing along by the third go round.  BTR doesn’t get enough credit for being a legit boy band, and for bringing back the genre. We’re convinced NKOTBSB and all these amazing things wouldn’t have happened without BTR.  These guys are talented singers and dancers and totally bring it each night. It doesn’t hurt that they share a choreographer with NKOTB – boy band master Kevin Maher.  Now if the New Kids could just recruit Big Time Rush for their boy band posse…

5. Matchbox Twenty & Goo Goo Dolls
We’re 90s fan girls so when we heard Matchbox Twenty and Goo Goo Dolls, two of our favorite bands ever, would be touring together we HAD to go. Mostly because if you had told us 15 years ago we would have the chance to go and didn’t, we would have been very upset with ourselves. Luckily we decided to go and it was more than worth it. Both acts played very solid sets including all of their old material.   It was just as great in 2013 as it would have been in 1996. If you are/were a fan of either group, we highly suggest seeing them live at least once.

You can see New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, and Goo Goo Dolls on tour this summer!

Olivia Somerlyn Releases New Single “Parachute”

Olivia Somerlyn just released her newest single, “Parachute”, co-written by none other than Nick Jonas (he also co-produced it)!  This song will definitely get her noticed in the iHeart Radio and Macy’s Rising Star contest this year.  Voting begins today and the winner gets to play the iHeartRadio Festival! Click HERE to vote for Olivia.

We love Olivia’s path from Jonas Brothers fangirl to the present. She is the ultimate secret fangirl and she is definitely living the dream! We caught her last year opening for Big Time Rush and Victoria Justice on the Summer Break Tour.  Olivia has tons of energy onstage, and gets everyone in the crowd off their feet and dancing along.

Abercrombie & Fitch “The Making Of A Star” Campaign Featuring Colton Haynes, Steven R McQueen, and Diego Boneta

Abercrombie & Fitch premiered a new group of familiar faces for their “Making Of A Star” Campaign today.
This round features Debby Ryan (Jessie – Disney Channel) , Steven R. McQueen (“MinuteMen” – Disney Channel, and The Vampire Diaries – The CW) , Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf – MTV, and Arrow – The CW) , Diego Boneta (Pretty Little Liars – ABC Family, and Rock Of Ages),  and Kylie Bunbury (Twisted – ABC Family).

These campaigns are so cool because they catch these rising stars just before they hit it big time! Although, if you watch enough “tween” TV shows and movies, then you’ll already recognize a bunch of these faces.

Colton Haynes played Jackson on Season 1 of Teen Wolf (where we fell in love with him until he turned into the ka- we won’t spoil it for you) and he was also featured in Victoria Justice’s music video for her single “Gold”!

Colton is also really good at Twitter and Instagram. He loves to post selfies – and with a face like that…we won’t stop him any time soon!  We would also like to include this gem from Colton’s recent Instagram feed. You’re welcome.

Next, if you can remember all of Spencer’s boy toys on Pretty Little Liars, you get an A+ in everything (we couldn’t remember Hanna’s first boyfriend’s name for the longest time). Go ahead and sift through all the hotties (we’ll wait) but we know you will have fond memories of Alex Santiago – the ball boy at the Rosewood Country Club played by Diego Boneta!

He also stole our hearts in the terribly written “Rock Of Ages” movie! We didn’t care how cheesy the dialogue was…all we wanted was more of Diego singing our favorite classic rock hits! Click here to listen to Diego singing “I Wanna Rock” originally by Twisted Sister.

Follow Diego Boneta on Twitter and Instagram, if only for the hotness factor he’ll add to your timeline.

If the name Steven R McQueen sounds familiar to you, it’s because he’s the grandson of Steve McQueen – the definition of “cool guy” from the 1960s classics like “The Great Escape” and the TV show “Wanted: Dead Or Alive”. Ask your parents or grandparents if you’re still lost.  Anyway, Steven R McQueen is the ultra hot grandson and really, we didn’t expect anything less from that family. You might recognize Steven R McQueen from the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie “Minutemen” where he starred with Luke Benward, Jason Dolley, Chelsea Kane, and Nicholas Braun.  Aww!! He was so little back then!!

These days though, you might recognize Steven R McQueen as  the super hot Jeremy on The Vampire Diaries on The CW!  (We tried watching that show and got bored…go figure!)

WAIT AND HE SINGS!!!  We just discovered that Steven sings and plays guitar. He just got ten times hotter!!

Look at how hot he is!! Bruce Weber did a fantastic job on the photos for this campaign.

If you still want more from all of the new talent, then click here for the full A&F Campaign video.  The Wall Street Journal and Teen Vogue have some pretty in depth articles about the campaign as well.

Head over to Abercrombie’s website for more on each new fresh face in the campaign, for more pretty photos and videos of really cute boys.  And puppies! Did we mention there’s lots of puppies?

Top 10 Moments of 2013 – Part 1

It’s almost 2014, so you know what that means – time to recap our favorite moments of 2013!  (We’re so original here).   As we mentioned before, 2013 was an awesome year for music, especially if you’re a secret fangirl.   Here are our favorite things that happened this year.

10.  78Violet
After what seemed like years of talk, 78Violet, aka Aly & AJ, announced an official reunion and a new single, “Hothouse.”  We are loving their new sound!   They are very interactive with their fans, and had some adorable sister moments on stage at their Grammercy Theater show, like mixing up their mic-pacs and swapping them back on stage.   We also love Aly’s story about their song “53rd Floor” – she realized only after the song was finished she had gotten the floor number wrong. Oops!

9.  Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were everywhere in 2013, and we would put “Can’t Hold Us” and “Thrift Shop” on any Best of 2013 list.   Their live show is just incredible with freestyle rapping, a full horn section, confetti blasters, and some serious crowd surfing.  Not to mention one of the most energetic performers we’ve ever seen!  Oh, and have you heard how Macklemore (aka Ben Haggerty) met his now fiance Tricia Davis?  Take notes: She had heard one of his songs on the radio, and sent him a MySpace message offering to make him a picnic, or so the legend goes.  She did, and they’ve been together ever since.    Fangirling at its finest.  We love it!

8. Jesse McCartney’s Comeback
We’ve been fans of J Mac since his days on “Summerland” and his first album.  Okay, we admit we were fans of Dreamstreet too.  (Remember them?)  He’s been focusing on acting lately, so we were stoked when he announced he would be joining the Backstreet Boys on their 20th Anniversary Tour.   Jesse let us know he’d been in the studio too, and released an EP, In Technicolor Part I, in December. Our favorite song is “Back Together”.

7.  Austin Mahone!
We discovered Austin by actually clicking on an “Amazon MP3 suggests” selection, and boy are we glad we did.   Talent, style, sweet dance moves? Austin is the complete package.  We were counting down the days until his headlining MTV Artist to Watch Tour in the fall, which was sadly postponed, but now means we’re just counting the days until it now kicks off in March!

6.  Selena Gomez Makes the Stars Dance
Selena returned to music this year with her album, “Stars Dance.”  This also marked the first time she released music without her band, The Scene.   Her music and performances are a throwback to early Britney (chair dances!!) and we are loving her pop-dance sound.   Say what you want about her,  but there is no denying the girl can dance and put on a good show.

Stay tuned for Part 2!
