The Friday Five: 2015 Albums of the Year (Pop)

It feels like we just wrote our 2014 Albums of the Year post about 5 minutes ago, but it’s time to look back on our favorite albums of 2015!   Here are our picks for our top pop albums of the year.  We included 2 EPs because they were too good NOT to and we’re crossing our fingers for full albums from them next year!

1.  Selena Gomez – “Revival”
After a public split from The Biebs, Selena Gomez is back! “Revival” was well worth the wait.

2. Carly Rae Jepsen – “E·MO·TION”
Carly Rae is easily one of the most underestimated pop artists, and one that certainly knows how to make a throwback album that sounds like it came straight out of the 80s.  (in a good way)

3. The Vamps – “Wake Up”
The Vamps are poised to take over America with their new album and it’s about time – they’re so good!

4. Hilary Duff – “Breathe In, Breathe Out”
Hilary Duff’s 5th studio album was well worth the (long!) wait.

5. DNCE – “SWAAY”
This EP makes us want to sway and dance to every song!  We can’t wait for a full album from Joe, Cole, JinJoo, and Jack.

5. Jake Miller – “Rumors”
This EP was one of our favorites that came out in 2015 – every track is a JAM!  We’re anxious for new music from Jake Miller.

The Friday Five: Christmas Playlist

If you, like us, were already sick of hearing Taylor Swift’s version of “Last Christmas” by Noon on Black Friday, here are some Holiday jams that we never get sick of!  (Really, let’s just keep *NSYNC’s “Home For Christmas” album on repeat for the next 3 weeks)

1. “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by *NSYNC

2. “Merry Christmas Baby” by Hunter Hayes

3. “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Dan + Shay

4. “Fa La La” by Justin Bieber featuring Boyz II Men

5. “Beautiful Christmas” by Big Time Rush

BONUS: “What Christmas Means To Me” by Hanson

The Friday Five: Dierks Bentley

It’s our country bae Dierks Bentley’s 40th Birthday to day!  The man just gets better and better with age.  It was hard to narrow it down to only 5 Dierks jams, but in honor of his bday here are some of our favorites!

1.”What Was I Thinkin”

2. “5-1-5-0”

3. “Riser”

4. “I Hold On”

5. “Come A Little Closer”

Bonus: “Drunk On A Plane”

The Friday Five: Good Charlotte

Good Charlotte are back with a new single,  and are heading out on tour with All Time Low in the UK!   We guess all that writing with 5SOS inspired them to venture back into the “mall punk” sound they helped craft in the early 2000s.

1.”The Anthem”

2. “Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous”

3. “Girls & Boys”

4. “Little Things”

5. “I Just Wanna Live”

BONUS: “Makeshift Love”

The Friday Five: November Albums

While we’re already sad that Halloween is almost over, November is upon us.  The countdown to Thanksgiving is on, along with these upcoming album releases.  Check out our playlist from the new music we’re looking forward to in November!

1. Hunter Hayes – “The 21 Project” due November 6

The Friday Five: Songs Of The Week

The Friday Five: The Splat

Nickelodeon announced this week that they are expanding their 90s TV lineup with a new programming block called “The Splat.”  “The Splat” will air every night from 10pm to 6am (no more staying up until Midnight to catch “Hey Arnold!”) and feature all your favorite 90s Nick shows.  Here are some of our favorite shows we hope to see on the lineup when it launches October 5th!

1. “Hey Arnold”
Unlike some shows, “Hey Arnold” is just as awesome as it was when you were also in 4th grade.

2. “Doug”
Doug and Skeeter were such fangirls for The Beets (so are we).

3. “Clarissa Explains It All”
The 90s fashion icon.

4. “The Adventures of Pete & Pete”
The show’s theme song by Polaris was just one of the many amazing things about Pete and Pete.

5. “Are You Afraid Of The Dark?”
Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society…
