Artist To Watch: Alexander 23

Alexander 23 is the greatest sad boi songwriter you haven’t met yet. His debut EP, “I’m Sorry I Love You,” is a collection of moments in time encapsulating heartbreak, existential dread and dying, love, and of course growing up.   We first met Alexander Glantz when he was a fresh faced, self taught drummer in THE HEYDAZE (rip). He’s grown up a little more since then and he’s ready to make his mark as a solo artist in the industry.

“I’m Sorry I Love You” displays Alexander 23’s songwriting and producing skills that have garnered high praise from the likes of Chelsea Cutler and Tana Mongeau-Paul, a feature on the latest soundtrack for Netflix’s hit series “13 Reasons Why”, and landed him coveted spots on several prominant “New Music Friday” playlists, as well as Amazon’s “Song Of The Day.” That’s a lot of awesome for the promising new artist.

Alexander 23 is heading overseas with Lola Zouai and then back Stateside for his last several shows of 2019 including a stop at Brooklyn Steel in NYC with Omar Apollo.  He also just announced that he will be supporting Chelsea Cutler on the “How To Be Human” Tour hitting cities across North America in the Spring of 2020.  Alexander 23 is also featured on Chelsea’s latest single, “Lucky,” and you’ll be lucky to catch them singing it on tour together!

THE HEYDAZE Play Sold Out Show At Gramercy Theatre

You know when you find a great new band, and you’re so excited you want to tell everyone you know / strangers on the street about them?  Right now for us, that band is THE HEYDAZE.  They just played their second-ever headlining show in Friday night, in front of a sold-out hometown crowd at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre.  It’s remarkable that less than a year ago, THE HEYDAZE did not exist.  The band works so well together, and has the stage presence of a group that’s been doing this for years.  We’re sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from these guys in 2015 and beyond.

THE HEYDAZE is Jesse Fink (lead vocals, guitar), Andrew Spelman (lead guitar), Andrew Underberg (keyboards, production), and Alexander Glantz (drums).  The band played a high-energy set that had everyone dancing from start to finish.  Seriously, a HEYDAZE show is one big party.  Their upbeat, guitar-driven pop sound make it impossible to not sing and dance along, even if it’s your first time hearing them.  They write extremely catchy songs with original melodies, smart lyrics, and a sense of humor.

The band introduced some new music, including “Dumb” and “Side Effects,” which have been stuck in our heads since the concert.   The set also included their cover of TLC’s “No Scrubs,” which was a hit with an audience that grew up on 90s music.

For the encore, the band sat at the end of the stage for an acoustic performance of “The Alphabet Song,” and ended the night with their first single, “Little Bandit.”  They’ve accomplished so much in the short time since the track was released, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for the talented group.

THE HEYDAZE Cover TLC’s “No Scrubs”

Was 1999 the greatest year for music of all time?  We think yes.  THE HEYDAZE clearly share our love of 90s pop – they do a killer mashup of Sisqo’s “Thong Song” and Mario’s “Let Me Love You” on tour, and their latest cover is TLC’s classic jam “No Scrubs.”  Obsessed.   Listen below!

You can see THE HEYDAZE in NYC at Gramercy Theatre on December 19th.  Get your tickets now!

SecretFangirls.com Interview THE HEYDAZE

NYC’s THE HEYDAZE are one to lookout for in 2015.  Since forming earlier this year, they’ve opened for Jesse McCartney and Timeflies, and had a sold out headlining show at Webster Hall.  The band crafts extremely catchy, feel good pop music that anyone can enjoy – the kind of music you want to play driving around with the windows down and the stereo up, singing along at the top of your lungs.

Their music is a collaborative effort between members Jesse Fink (vocals and guitar), Andrew Spelman (lead guitar), Alexander Glantz (drums), and Andrew Underberg (keyboard and production).  The band has a gift for writing  hooks, and songs infused with playful, tongue-in-cheek lyrics (See “Adderall,” “Don Juan,” etc.)

We sat down with THE HEYDAZE at Webster Hall before their last stop on Timeflies’ After Hours Tour and talked about everything from  how they met to what music they grew up listening to.  The band is just as fun as their music.  Watch our interview below!

You can see THE HEYDAZE in NYC at Gramercy Theatre on December 19th!  Trust us, you don’t want to miss this.  Get your tickets now!
