5SOS just wrapped up their first North American Headlining tour aka the Stars, Stripes and Maple Syrup Tour. (We love how they name their tours). Check out our recap of their NYC show!
We are usually pretty on top of show announcements here at SecretFangirls.com, but somehow this one passed us by! Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have teamed up with American Express and will have shows for card members in New York and Los Angeles this Spring! They will be having just a few shows in the US this year, so don’t miss your chance to see them!

Their show at the Theater at Madison Square Garden last fall was one of our favorite moments of 2013. We’ve never seen such a high energy performance (or so much confetti!) and we’re looking forward to seeing them again!
LA Native, Andy Grammer just released the lyric video for his new single “Back Home“. The catchy song, co-written by AJR‘s Ryan Met, is a happy-go-lucky acoustic driven track that is sure to have anyone humming along all summer long! Watch the lyric video below.
Andy will be going on tour this summer across the US, tickets are on sale now. Check out all the dates here! “Back Home” is available now on iTunes and Amazon!
In honor of one of our birthday’s today, check out our favorite non-traditional birthday songs. Did you have any idea NKOTB and *NSYNC had original birthday songs?! Well now you do. Enjoy!
1. “Birthday” by Selena Gomez
We find ourselves singing this song basically every day of the year, and are obsessed with Selena’s old school chair dance choreography to this song. “Tell ’em that it’s my birthday when I party like that!”
2. “Happy Birthday to You” by New Kids on the Block
The falsetto in this is just beautiful. NKOTB is the gift that keeps on giving.
3. “Birthday” by Katy Perry
Katy just released the official video for “Birthday” last night (great timing!). She crashed a few birthday parties in disguise, with hilarious and adorable results.
4. “Not Your Birthday” by Allstar Weekend
You can always party like it’s not your birthday.
5. “Happy Birthday” by *NSYNC
Again, who knew that *NSYNC had a birthday song?!
Bonus: “Happy Birthday” performed a capella by *NSYNC. Because who could ask for a better present?
We had the chance to sit down with Adam, Jack and Ryan Met of AJR before their headlining show in Philadelphia last week. The guys shared everything from their pre-concert rituals to which artist they’d “fangirl” over if they met.
Their single “I’m Ready” has been climbing the charts, and is sure to be one of the biggest hits of the summer! You can catch AJR at radio festivals across the US, and on tour with Lindsey Stirling this summer. Check out all the dates here and be sure to get a copy of the “I’m Ready” EP before the show so you can sing along!
In the meantime, watch our interview below and get to know more about Adam, Jack and Ryan!
We caught Aussie band (NOT boy band) 5SOS’ first North American headlining tour when they stopped in NYC this week! We were just as excited to see opener Jackson Guthy, whom we loved on the Summer Break Tour with Big Time Rush last year. He played several new songs including his new single, “Young and Single.” Jackson does a great job of getting the crowd pumped up with his catchy songs and energetic performance.
It’s clear that 5S0S draw a lot of their inspiration from early 2000s pop-punk and add their own twist on it. The Australian band powered through their set like old pros playing old favorites like “Don’t Stop” and new releases from their EP like “Heartache On The Big Screen”. It was almost like watching All Time Low and Blink-182’s love child on stage! Everything from the onstage banter, to the antics to move from stage right to stage left, and even the dueling guitars between Luke and Michael had us wishing we could turn back time to Warped Tour 2007-2008.
As the band slowed things down (not by much) with their song “Beside You”, the crowd responded with raising paper hearts in the air and signs reading “the city that never sleeps” with the NYC skyline on them. Lead singer, Luke Hemmings commented mid song how cool the crowd looked from stage and we totally agree. It’s amazing to see just how much social media has impacted music and concerts today, as hundreds of fans in the audience held up their hearts.
The sold out crowd was extremely enthusiastic, and we noticed a LOT of items being thrown on stage at the band. Clearly some people haven’t read our Fangirl Handbook for the proper concert etiquette! (Rule #1: Don’t throw things at the band.)
5 Seconds Of Summer are sure to get the respect they deserve with the support and friendship of fellow pop-punk artists, All Time Low. Alex Gaskarth co-wrote a song called “Disconnected” with 5SOS for the US Tour Edition of the “She Looks So Perfect EP”. The song definitely sounds like an outtake from an earlier ATL album (hey, we’re not complaining!) and we can hear the ATL influences in their track “Lost Boy.”
If you get the chance to see 5SOS on tour, and you love to feel nostalgic for early-mid 2000’s pop-punk – hop on that bandwagon before it gets too full!
Watch 5 Seconds Of Summer perform “She Looks So Perfect” live at the Best Buy Theater in New York City from last night!

We’re just two weeks away from the release of Hunter Hayes’ new album, “Storyline!” In anticipation of the release, Hunter released another track off the album, “You Think You Know Somebody,” along with a live performance video.
If you’ve already pre-ordered “Storyline,” you’ll get the track instantly! You can also buy the track as a single, if you’d rather wait for the physical album.
We are finally catching the “We Are Not Invisible” Tour next weekend with Hunter and Dan + Shay, and cannot wait to hear this song live! “Storyline” is one of our most anticipated albums of 2014, and we’ve been impatiently waiting to see Hunter again live after an outstanding show at Webster Hall last year for the release of “Encore.”
Back in the late 90s and early aughts, the Backstreet Boys vs *NSYNC feud was a very real thing. Across the world, middle school girls everywhere (OK and elementary, high school and college..) pledged their allegiance to one boy band, and one alone. This was even more serious than choosing a faction in Divergent. Did you prefer JT’s crunchy bleached curls? Or Nick’s platinum bowl cut? It was one or the other, you couldn’t have both.
We always (not so) secretly loved both bands. If anyone asked it was all about *NSYNC, but we loved Backstreet just as much and still do. I guess you could say that we are Divergent: we are simply not made to love just one boy band. Each group offered something different: where would we be without JC hitting that note in “Bye Bye Bye?” And Nick in “I Want It That Way?”
We loved *NSYNC’s dance moves and swag (it takes guts to pull off a down vest filled with cash and silver lipstick) and Backstreet Boys harmonies and over the top music videos.
But it’s not 1999 anymore, it’s 2014. Can’t we all just get along? There is more than enough boy band love to go around!
You can catch Backstreet Boys on their In a World Like This Tour across North America this summer, as well as Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 World Tour! And you know we are never giving up hope for that *NSYNC reunion tour…
Be sure to follow *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and each and every boy band that is your fire and one true desire on Twitter for more updates!
It’s no secret that we are huge fans of Dan + Shay, and have been impatiently waiting to finally see them on Hunter Hayes’ “We Are Not Invisible Tour” in May! We’ve had their debut album, “Where It All Began,” on repeat since it was released, and they have the perfect sound for an outdoor summer concert. Their single, “19 You + Me” just went gold this week!
They’ll be on tour with Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton this summer, and have a few festival dates as well. Check out all of Dan + Shay’s upcoming tour dates below!
Now what do we have to do to get them to have a headlining show in NYC?
You can also meet Dan + Shay at most shows, either by getting a “Dan + Shay + You” VIP experience, or at a signing post show. Be sure to follow Dan + Shay on Twitter for the location! Fangirl Tip: If you bring or buy a copy of their album, you can go to the front of the line.
