Nick & Drew Lachey Get Their Own Reality Show on A&E

In a plot that sounds oddly familiar, A&E announced today that it had greenlighted a series that follows boy band members and brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, of 98 Degrees, as they open a bar in their hometown of Cincinatti, OH.   Why mess with a formula that works? The show will premiere on A&E in 2015, and filming is already underway.

Both Nick and Drew are no strangers to reality TV.  Nick was a pioneer in the celeb-reality genre, staring in MTV’s “Newlyweds” back in 2003.  Drew was the champion of the second season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” and returned for their all-star season in 2012.

We’ll definitely be tuning in.

Shows We Need on Netflix

We’ve basically been hibernating lately since we want to avoid this awful winter as much as possible. That means cranking up the heat, baking cookies, and marathoning 90s TV shows.  Netflix and Hulu have a pretty good selection but there are some major omissions. Here’s what we’d like to see added, preferably before spring hits and we start spending our time outside again.

1. Boy Meets World – With the “Girl Meets World” premiere happening sometime this year (really Disney?  You still can’t give us a date?)  it’s only fitting that we get a chance to catch up on the classic series first.  We’ve been missing this show ever since ABC Family stopped airing it weekday mornings (it was the perfect get-ready for work show).

2. Gilmore Girls – Every other long running WB series is on Netflix (“Dawson’s Creek,” “Roswell,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “One Tree Hill..”).  Except for “Gilmore Girls.”  And “Felicity.”  We love this show for it’s smart, fast dialogue and wit, and for bringing Adam Brody into our lives for the first time.

3. Summerland – A show that stars a pre-High School Musical Zac Efron (he still had a gap!), Jesse McCartney, Becky from Full House, and Kay Panabaker?  And takes place in a California beach town, where it’s permanently summer?  Sign us up.  The show sadly lasted for only 2 seasons but managed to pack a lot of drama in.

4. Young Americans – This show was billed as a “Dawson’s Creek” spinoff, somehow, as it follows a guest-star with a 2-episode arc (Will Krudski, Pacey’s childhood friend) to a prestigious boarding school in New England.  It also stars a young Kate Bosworth and pre-Vampire Diaires Ian Somerholder.  The show, which takes place during the summer and aired as a summer replacement for “Dawson’s Creek” in 2000, only lasted for 8 episodes but brings us warm memories all the same.  I mean just look at the show’s opening credits – it’s basically an Abercrombie & Fitch ad.

5. Bunheads – Another show by “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, which features the same snappy dialogue, pop-culture references, and many of the actors.  This show was brilliant, funny, and heartwarming all at once, so obviously it was canceled way before it should have been.   Maybe the network execs just couldn’t keep up with the dialogue?

Honorable mention:  The OC – It never occurred to us that “The OC” should be on Netflix because OBVIOUSLY we own all 4 seasons of the greatest show of all time on DVD.  (And season 1 is practically falling apart due to overuse)  But we just realized that it’s not on Netflix and/or Hulu, and it’s a shame for anyone who doesn’t own it.

Hart of Dixie Returns Tonight!

“The OC” is the greatest show of all time, so we were thrilled when we found out that Josh Schwartz & Rachel Bilson were teaming up again on “Hart of Dixie!”

If you haven’t been watching, you’re seriously missing out.   Everyone that lives in the charming town of Bluebell, Alabama, where the show takes place, is entertaining to watch and full of Southern charm.  It almost makes us want to pack up and move down south (even moreso in freezing January).  The show’s small town setting leads to lots of romantic rhombuses, secret affairs, and culture shock for native New Yorker Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson).  Bilson is just as hilarious and just plain awesome as Zoe as she was as Summer Roberts.

Of course, both she and co-star Jaime King (Lemon Vreeland) have enviable wardrobes: Zoe  the too-edgy-for-Bluebell-New Yorker (“Is it okay for a doctor to wear shorts?”) and true Southern Belle Lemon make us want to be both.

Pretty Little Liars Returns Tuesday, January 7th!

Let’s face it:  January is a rough time.   The holidays are over, it’s cold, no vacation in the foreseeable future, and all we want to do is just hibernate until spring.   So, we like to focus on the good things that do happen in January, like the return of Pretty Little Liars!

(If you aren’t caught up with the show yet, we’d suggest to stop reading.  You’ve been warned)

The show left off with a major cliffhanger — Allison, whom we’d believed to have been dead since the show started, was alive!   We think so, at least.  This show has so many twists and turns, we don’t know what to believe anymore.

Here are some questions we’d like answered this season:
1.  Is Mr. Fitz (our favorite character) really evil?  Or is he just faking being a member of the A-team, like Toby?   Although we’ve been saying all along Mr Fitz is so perfect something HAS to be wrong with him, so it wouldn’t surprise us if he has been A all this time…
2.  What happened to Gregg Sulkin, Mr. Fitz’s little brother?  (He will always be Gregg to us thanks to this commercial from Disney)  Nothing warms your tum like soup made by your mum!
3.  Can we have more shirtless scenes with Jason?
4. Where is Toby?  I don’t think we see enough of him, and we would like more.  Has he been modeling?
5. What ever happened to that cute guy, Andrew, from the decathlon team that Spencer was playing “strip study” with?
6.  How do the girls have time to do their hair every morning? When do they do their homework? How do they have so much time before school? We could barely get dressed and out the door before the first bell!
7.  Is Caleb going to come back from Ravenswood?  We tried watching that show and gave up after 1.5 episodes, so we have no idea.  We hope Macy Misa is okay.
8. WHY DOESN’T ANYONE JUST TELL THEIR PARENTS / A RESPONSIBLE ADULT / MR FITZ / ANOTHER HOT MALE ADULT FIGURE / ETC THAT THEY ARE BEING STALKED BY A?!?

I guess then we wouldn’t have a show, so we’ll just play along!

While we look up our favorite photos of Mr Fitz, check out the trailer for the new season below.

Watch the premiere on Tuesday, January 7th at 8pm, and catch up during the all day marathon on ABC Family!

The Wahlburgers Coming to A&E in January

We generally stay away from reality shows, but if they involve a current or former boyband member, you can bet we will be tuning in (shoutout to “House of Carters!”).  So naturally we were thrilled to see that one of our favorite members of New Kids on the Block, Donnie Wahlberg, is part of a new show on A&E this January.   The show is called “The Wahlburgers,” and it revolves around the Walberg clan’s hamburger restaurant they opened in (where else) Boston, MA.

The show stars Donnie, brother Mark (how nice of Marky Mark to take time from his busy pants dropping schedule to film this show!), and brother Paul, the restaurant’s executive chef.  According to the press release, the show will focus on the struggles of running a restaurant with the family name.  We hope co-owner Donnie will be making lots of appearances, as he’s become one of our all time favorite boybanders (if you’ve ever been to a NKOTB show, you will know why).  We’re hoping Aaron Carter, who was apparently jumped in Boston earlier this year for “being on NKOTB turf,” will stop by for a bite to eat.

The show premieres on A&E January 22nd at 10:30pm.  Check out the promo below!
