Cole Swindell Releases “You Should Be Here”

Country star Cole Swindell just dropped the first single from his much anticipated sophomore album, due in early 2016.  The track,  “You Should Be Here,” is an emotional track Cole wrote with hit songwriter Ashley Gorley after losing his father a couple of years ago.  Cole hopes the song will resonate with anyone who has lost or is missing someone. As Cole told iHeartRadio, “this is the song I moved to Nashville to write.”   Listen to the track below!

The Friday Five: 2015 Albums of the Year (Pop)

It feels like we just wrote our 2014 Albums of the Year post about 5 minutes ago, but it’s time to look back on our favorite albums of 2015!   Here are our picks for our top pop albums of the year.  We included 2 EPs because they were too good NOT to and we’re crossing our fingers for full albums from them next year!

1.  Selena Gomez – “Revival”
After a public split from The Biebs, Selena Gomez is back! “Revival” was well worth the wait.

2. Carly Rae Jepsen – “E·MO·TION”
Carly Rae is easily one of the most underestimated pop artists, and one that certainly knows how to make a throwback album that sounds like it came straight out of the 80s.  (in a good way)

3. The Vamps – “Wake Up”
The Vamps are poised to take over America with their new album and it’s about time – they’re so good!

4. Hilary Duff – “Breathe In, Breathe Out”
Hilary Duff’s 5th studio album was well worth the (long!) wait.

5. DNCE – “SWAAY”
This EP makes us want to sway and dance to every song!  We can’t wait for a full album from Joe, Cole, JinJoo, and Jack.

5. Jake Miller – “Rumors”
This EP was one of our favorites that came out in 2015 – every track is a JAM!  We’re anxious for new music from Jake Miller.

Lineup Announced for 2016 Southern Ground Festival in Charleston

Let’s be real – concerts make us hungry.   But more often than not, we’re forced to eat bland, overpriced venue food.   Which is why we love the idea behind the Southern Ground Festival: it celebrates both the music and the food of the South!   The festival was started by Zac Brown in 2011, and will be held for the 5th time on April 16-17th 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina.  The lineup includes an exciting lineup of country artists (literally it’s like all of our favorites) and will feature gourmet concessions from local vendors.

Artist To Watch: Pretty Vicious

Based in Wales, Pretty Vicious is a young 4-piece band with a punk rock sound that’s wise beyond their years.  Supporting The Vaccines and Nothing But Thieves in between a string of headlining UK tour dates this Fall, the band are on their way to stardom!

Brad, Tom, Jarvis, and Elliot play it fast and loud channeling the forefathers of punk rock with some serious fuzz on the guitars creating a vintage sound in a modern world.  Their latest track, “Are You Ready For Me” is a blistering mashup of raw vocals and ripping guitars.  Listen to the track below.
