Broadside Release Two New Singles, “King Of Nothing” & “Empty”

Broadside have been awfully quiet lately but that just means they’re putting in the work behind the scenes on new music.  The guys have been teasing two new singles for several weeks and now fans can finally listen to tracks on Spotify as well as pre-order a copy of the exclusive, limited edition colored 7″ vinyls.  Singer Oliver Baxxter broke down the inspiration for the two tracks, “King Of Nothing” and “Empty,” and we can’t be more excited to hear what they’ve been working on!

“King Of Nothing” focuses on the post show feelings, which can be totally opposite to what fans feel.  “This is a song about wanting to be the best,” states Baxxter. “We chose this life as touring musicians but it can be painfully lonely. We all want to be heard and play to massive crowds while making enough money that our parents won’t worry about our futures. I’m so proud of our accomplishments as a band but some nights, after the show ends and those crowds leave the venue, when you’re in the back seat of a dark van, you feel like you’re not doing enough and those dreams you have become nightmares of what you’ll never achieve. You can be on top of the world and have nothing.”

Broadside continue to prove themselves as the new kings of heavy lyrics paired with bouncy pop melodies and they showcase that on “Empty.”  When asked about the new track, Baxxter playfully admits,  “I was going through a real out of body misery when writing this song. The duality of a being a broken-hearted romantic splits a person. On one hand, you’ve been wronged, you should run and never look back. On the other, the rewarding time spent and memories made keep you trapped in the worrisome ‘what if this person leaves’ psychosis. I wanted to write a dance-y song making fun of how unfortunate it is to be in love, sometimes.”

Show Review: The Faim Electrify NYC

Australia is on a hot streak with exports and their latest, The Faim, are bringing their brand of pop rock with a side of on stage charisma that could fill an arena.  We caught them at the Gramercy Theatre on their tour opening for Andy Black, which wraps up this week in Virginia Beach.

Armed with an arsenal of new music and enough energy to power Manhattan, The Faim are here and they will not be ignored.  Frontman Josh Raven commanded the stage with swagger and poise, drawing the crowd in from the start, even walking off the stage and connecting directly with the crowd in the middle of the pit.

The Faim, singer Josh, guitarist Sam Tye, bassist/keyboardist Stephen Beerkens, and drummer Linden Marissen felt more like the headliner than an opener but we bet they’ll be in that headliner slot sooner rather than later.

They will be back in Australia and Europe over the Summer.  Check out all of their upcoming tour dates here!   We’re hoping to see them back in the States soon!

James Maslow Drops Lyric Video For New Single, “Love U Sober”

Former BTR member, current heartthrob, James Maslow is hitting the ground running this Spring with a BELLA Magazine cover and a brand new single called “Love U Sober.”  The new track is an upbeat, euphoric track about James’ life and past relationships and his struggle with differentiating between love and lust.

When asked about what the new music, James said, “A large portion of the music I’m going to put out is influenced by my past relationships. ‘Love U Sober’ acknowledges the fact that I was in a relationship with someone and we had so much fun, but after many months, I began to question it. The sad part was the connection wasn’t as real as I thought; it was masked by the emotion of partying. Saying I want to love you sober might be more literal than people realize.”

James is also the cover star of BELLA Magazine’s latest issue which is now available in Barnes&Noble nationwide. The cover story features an indepth tell-all about his new music, inspirations, and what fans can expect from him in 2019. He just wrapped filming on “Wolfhound,” a WWII action film, as well as “My Boyfriend’s Meds” starring alongside Jaime Camil, Sandra Echeverria, Jason Alexander and Brooke Shields, slated for release August, 30th, 2019.

Bryce Vine Interview With SecretFangirls.com

Bryce Vine is ready to take over your playlists, if he hasn’t already.  His latest single “Drew Barrymore,” was a breakthrough hit and 2019 is shaping up to be an even biger year for Bryce.  He’s in the midst of his first ever ehadlining tour, playing sold out venues across the country through March.  He’s also gearing up to drop his first full length album, “Carnival,” later this year.  We love his laid back hip-hop sound, which Bryce describes as “if Outkast and Blink-182 got drunk with Gorillaz and started playing music together.”

We caught up with Bryce before his first show of the tour at Gramercy Theatre in NYC.  Watch our interview and find out what fans can expect from the tour, who he’d totally fangirl over, and what’s next in 2019.

Sam Setton Drops New Track, “Gum”

Sam Setton is making a splash early in 2019 with his heartfelt and emotional music that has connected with fans from coast to coast.  After a busy 2018 making his live debut at The Peppermint Club in Los Angles, opening for Robert Delong and Des Rocks in NYC, and signing with Paradigm Talent Agency, Sam Setton is setting the stage for an even brighter 2019.

Sam’s latest track “Gum” follows suit with lyrics that define the range of emotions from the blissful mania to the intense passion, and the fear associated with falling in love.   When asked about the song title, Sam talked about how the first feelings of falling in love are “so amazing but also fleeting,” saying they’re reminiscent of “the burst of flavor when you first chew a piece of gum.”

“Gum” fuses warm electronic-infused production, heartfelt, R&B vocals and sticky sweet pop hooks, Sam is using his intimate storytelling to carve out his own lane in the musical terrain.
