SecretFangirls.com Interview The Weekend Riot

Pop duo The Weekend Riot are an artist you need to know in 2015. Coming from the punk scene, they took their (secret) love of pop music to create a new project and The Weekend Riot was born!  Johnny Costa (vocals, ukulele) and Bruce Wiegner (vocals, guitar) went into the studio with producer Ace Enders to create acoustic driven pop that’s both energetic and catchy. They released their first single, “25 Minutes,” back in December and are gearing up to release their debut EP “Remember This Night” in March, thanks to the support of their fans.

We sat down with The Weekend Riot before their show at Webster Hall and talked about what we can expect from their upcoming EP, which artists they’d love to collaborate with, and who they would totally fangirl over.  Watch our interview below and get to know more about The Weekend Riot!

Alec Chambers Releases Debut “Whole Again” EP

Alec Chambers released his first EP last week, and celebrated the occasion with a show at the Bowery Electric in NYC.  His set was electric, as he played an energetic set including songs from the EP and a very solid cover of Ed Sheeran “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You.”  He opened and closed the show with “Bleecker Street,” playing both harmonica and guitar.  Listen to the track below!

The Weekend Riot Drop Second Single “Remember This Night”

Pop duo The Weekend Riot just released their second single called “Remember This Night” from their debut EP of the same name expected out March 9th.  Produced by Ace Enders from The Early November, this track was inspired by a “summer night spent with your friend and you finally muster up the courage to ask your friend to be your bae.”  Listen to the brand new single below!

Pre-orders for The Weekend Riot’s debut EP are available on The Weekend Riot’s official website and include everything from a physical copy of the EP to a custom song or a Skype session with the band!

Shawn Mendes Premieres “A Little Too Much” Video

Just before the release of his debut album, Shawn Mendes premiered the official video for his new single “A Little Too Much.”  The video is simple: just Shawn, his guitar, a piano, and an empty theater.

Cam Premieres Debut Single “My Mistake”

Rising country star Cam, whom you might remember from the Where It All Began Tour with Dan + Shay, just released her first official single!  The track, “My Mistake,” is something we all can relate to.  The single is her first since signing a deal with Sony Music Nashville earlier this year. We are looking forward to hearing more from Cam this year – her opening set on the Where It All Began Tour was a blast!  She had the crowd pumped up in no time, with tracks like “Country Ain’t Never Been Pretty,” “Fireball Whiskey,” and “Go Get ‘Em, Cam.”   We love her clever, honest lyrics paired with classic country stylings.

North Of Nine just released the official video for their new single, “Can It Be You?” and it’s on fire.  Literally.  See what happens when band members Jackson Guthy (lead vocals), Rob Ketchum (drums), Michael O’Grady (guitar), Edison Lo (bass), and Nolan Frank (keyboards) check into a hospital with broken hearts.  Watch the video below!

Born Cages Announce Spring Tour With DREAMERS

Festival season is fast approaching.   We’re sure you’ve noticed the array of fringe-y accessories as well as denim cut offs and floral print everything hitting stores.  NYC pop rock group Born Cages just announced a March tour leading up to SXSW in Austin this year with DREAMERS and The Kickback.   Sounds like a dream tour lineup to us. Alec Chambers, one of our top artists to watch, just released the official video for his debut single “Whole Again.”  The video  was directed by Jonathan Hoag and follows Alec and his girlfriend on the perfect date around New York City.

North of Nine, led by frontman Jackson Guthy, just released their new single “Can It Be You?”  and we already have it on repeat.  You’ve probably caught yourself rocking out to Jackson Guthy’s set on tour – he’s opened for Big Time Rush, 5SOS, Fifth Harmony, and more.  His new band, North of Nine, has his signature pop sound. We’re getting major Maroon 5 “Songs About Jane” vibes from this track.  Watch the lyric video below!
