The Stolen Announce New Album And Single “Euphoric”

New Jersey is known for being a musical breeding ground and they’ve gifted the world with the best and brightest stars from pop and rock alike.  The Stolen are no different.   Last year, they released an insanely solid album but they’ve resurfaced after some hibernation with a new album, “Fragile Heart,” due out May 19th and a fun throwback video for the lead single, “Eurphoric.”

The first track from the forthcoming album is super dreamy with surf rock waves that make you wish Summer lasted forever.  “Euphoric” builds on The Stolen’s past releases and showcases the musical prowess of each member creating a track that could easily become the soundtrack to our Summer!

Surrounded by posters featuring “Back To The Future,” The Cure, and Bowie, the band set up a classic 80s short film for the new single.  The guys are decked in their denim jackets, sneaking out of bedroom windows and meeting up with their friends “Stranger Things” style for a late night bonfire bonding session!

The Johnsons Release Music Video For “Scream”

There’s some kind of magic in a band of brothers – Jonas Brothers, AJR, and now The Johnsons are setting their sights on becoming your new favorite musical family!  Clayton, Chantry, and Connor Johnson teamed up with Tony Fagensen from Eve 6 to produce their latest single called “Scream” blending both pop and boyband elements with some serious guitar solos.  Musically and lyrically, this song hits all the right notes for a Summer time sing along that you won’t feel guilty about any time soon.

The band just released their brand new video for the single and it’s everything we could have wanted.  The cute Summer date video, directed by Connor, features the guys hanging out on the beach, having dinner by the boardwalk and playing carnival games – definitely a throwback to our favorite classic pop videos!  We can’t wait to hear what these guys are working on next but we’re sure it’s going to be just as upbeat, fun, and catchy!

TLC Take Fans “Way Back” With New Single Featuring Snoop Dogg

The best selling American girl group, TLC, just released the first single from what will be the group’s final album. Chili and T-Boz are staying true to their 90’s R&B roots and aren’t shying away from issues that matter to them.  The single called “Way Back” talks about a relationship that goes, way back and sticks with you through thick and thin.

The Kickstarter funded album surpassed the goal to become the crowd funding site’s most successful campaign, and was backed by fans and celebrities like Katy Perry.  The girls noted this will be their first without Lisa since her passing although T-Boz explained “her spirit will always be present in the music. That will never change.”

Tennis Tuesday: News Roundup

This Week’s Tournaments:
US Men’s Clay Court Championship – Houston, TX USA
Grand Prix Hassan II – Marrakesh, Morocco

Davis Cup Semi-Finals Set
We always love Davis Cup weekends!   Since tennis is such an individual sport, it’s fun to see the players in a team setting, playing not just for themselves but for their country.  The crowds are always excellent, loudly and festively supporting their nation.  Over the weekend, 8 nations faced off for a spot in the semi-finals.  Australia defeated the USA 3-2, led by a focused Nick Kyrgios and captain Lleyton Hewitt.

France had a straightforward victory over Great Britain, winning both singles rubbers on Friday and doubles on Saturday to seal the victory.   Even though they were out with injuries, Richard Gasquet and Pierre-Hugues Herbert were there to cheer on the team in Rouen.

The semi-finals will take place on September 15-17th, just after the conclusion of the US Open.  Belgium will host Australia, while France will host Serbia.

Memphis Open to Move to Long Island, NY
The Memphis Open is leaving its home in Tennessee after a 41-year run.  The ATP 250 event is moving to the newly re-opened Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Hempstead, NY in 2018.  GF Sports partnered with Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment to move the tournament to the new venue.  Next year’s event will take place February 10 – 18.   We’re thrilled to see more tennis in NY!

Album Preview: For The Win “Heavy Thoughts” Out April 14th

San Diego’s own heavy pop punk band For The Win are set to release their most honest album yet this April.  “Heavy Thoughts” is due out April 14th on Artery Recordings and features the band’s most personal lyrics to date blended seamlessly with high energy instruments and vocal harmonies.  We got an early listen of the band’s new album and there’s no sign of a sophomore slump with For The Win!

The album kicks off with a declaration “This is a song for the beaten and broken,” and quickly shifts gears with guitars chugging alongside a steady drum beat on “Us Versus Them.”  Singer Kyle Christensen promises the listener doesn’t have to walk this world alone, which is the overarching message of this album.   Almost every song speaks from the heart about some of those thoughts that sit in the back of your mind all the time.  The first two singles from the album, “Crash And Burn” and “Dancing Shoes” show the dynamic writing both lyrically and musically from the band.

For The Win found the ideal balance between light pop sing along choruses and heavy breakdowns that we’re sure will get the crowd moving during their live shows.  There are a few stand out tracks on this album, “Nowhere To Run” and “How Can I (Get Back To You)” are two of them.  These are two of the more pop hook laden tracks on the album, but lyrically they have the right amount of weight to hold their own against the other tracks on a truly solid sophomore album.

For The Win showcase their softer side as well on the album with the closing track “Until The End Of Time.”   The final track starts as a slow acoustic jam questioning “Do I sit around and wait for change or move ahead to better days without you” and later moves towards a more bitter tone as the drums and a string section fade in.

All in all, these guys are proving that the next generation of melodic hardcore and pop punk are in very good hands. This is an album that not only passed the “driving test” (you know, the one where you plug in the aux cord and just drive aimlessly around town while blasting the album) but it also gets us excited for what’s next from For The Win!

Be sure to grab a copy of “Heavy Thoughts” when it drops April 14th on iTunes, Amazon, and through the band’s official webstore.  Pre-order bundles are available and feature exclusive merch and more!

Drawing North Drop “Stay”

Drawing North officially dropped their new single “Stay” just in time for Summer!  The brand new track is a departure from their previous sound but we are hooked on the catchy pop sound these guys are bringing over from Australia.

The single is the first since the band released of their first album “El Dorado” last September.  The new music is more electronic but keeps the dance-y pop influenced sound fans have come to love from Drawing North.

Listen to “Stay” by Drawing North on Spotify now!

Grab a copy of the single on iTunes or Amazon.

In case you missed it, check out our interview with Drew, Jake, and Po when they stopped by NYC and talked about the new single, having a dog on tour, and more!
