Archers Ignited Gramercy Theatre in NYC With Catch Your Breath & The Funeral Portrait

Archers absolutely killed it last weekend in NYC at Gramercy Theatre with Catch Your Breath and The Funeral Portrait and instantly converted so many new fans!

Coming out of the gate strong with “Perfect Strangers” the band went on a tear, casually ripping through fan favorites like “Made For Love,” “Bitter,” and the latest single, “Never Enough.”

As the guys made their way through the set, the pit got more and more rowdy with every song. Mid-set the band were joined Patrick, the vocalist from fellow tourmate, If Not For Me on “Say This Sober,” which really got the crowd going! We love when all of the bands on tour are friends with each other and aren’t afraid to collab and amplify their powers!

Later, Archers slowed things down a little bit when lead singer Nathanial Pulley brought out his acoustic guitar for “Before You Go,” noting this was one of their favorite parts of their set, getting to hear everyone sing their words back to them. When Nathanial asked the crowd if anyone had the “All I Have Left” EP, one fan screamed as loudly as possible which made the bands’ night so they dedicated the song to her!

The pit never stopped moving, contrasting the gritty screams with soaring vocals, Archers have the ability to float between pop rock and the heavier end of hardcore with the best of them! You could even hear the sold out crowd singing along over the band at some points during their set which I don’t think I’ve heard happen in a very long time.

When it came time to close out their set, Archers said it was “time to get as heavy as possible” per Nathanial, with “Blackmarketmonkeymagic” setting the tone for the rest of the night. The band left everything they had on stage and walked off stage with a ton of new fans!

Joey Valence & Brae Drop Sophomore Album “No Hands”

Joey Valence & Brae are conquering playlists one dope track at a time. The duo are a completely self contained lab – self produced, self written, self mastered, and self indulgent while entertaining themselves and anyone around them who will listen.

“‘NO HANDS’ is driving home the point that we do this on our own, and that we’re confident about it,” said Joey. “Like, ‘Look Ma, no hands.’ It also doubles for having no hands working on this project other than us in terms of the creative. This album is us doubling down: we bet on ourselves and it worked. [and] we’re still having the best time of our lives.”

The album is full of tongue in cheek lyrics and pop cultural references like Pokemon, Top Golf, Shirley Temples, Pop Tarts, and even Olivia Rodrigo. The boys paired 90s hip hop with drum n bass and included notable features like Danny Brown, Terror Reid and Z-Trip on an unforgettable record that will ignite any party.

Fresh of a massive opening slot for Sum41, JVB are unleashing their own headlining tour this Fall. Taking over major cities like NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, and then taking their wildly unpredictable live show to Europe, these guys are proving that you don’t need to be part of a big machine to have huge hits!

Check out the “No Hands” Fall Tour dates below and make sure you grab your tickets when they go on sale on June 14th before they sell out.

Album Review: RedHook – “Postcard From A Living Hell”

RedHook is the latest alt rock foursome to come from Sydney, Australia and they just released one of our favorite records this year. “Postcard From A Living Hell” tackles the darkest parts of singer Emmy Mack’s subconsciousness and sees her processing her trauma through an Alice In Wonderland tinted looking glass.

The first track hooks you in with a polished riff and a trap dum beat before Emmy spits the words of a postcard written from rock bottom. When asked about the song, Emmy states that “Postcard Xo” tackles “wrestling with feelings of guilt, shame and worthlessness and wishing the worst for yourself – because that’s exactly what you feel like you deserve.”

“The Critic” is a full of buzzsaw guitar riffs, Gamyboy synths and a 1-2 sucker punch of radio friendly perfection attacking the voice in our own head that tells us we’re doomed to fail while “Psych Vs. Psych” sees RedHook showcasing their musical shapeshifting abilities blending rap and metalcore painting a picture of a toxic relationship stalemate of mutual victim mentality.

Yours Truly’s hops on “Imposter” bringing two female powerhouses together to craft a sci-fi fantasy to try and understand the lies and manipulations of narcissistic ex-partners. “Low Budget Horror” is a stand out track as an emo-bass banger as Emmy strikes back and mocks online trolls with a string of horror movie references.

Rounding out the angst filled record, “Inarticulate” features The Faim in a heartfelt rock ballad addressing the feeling of helplessness trying to save a loved one trapped in life-threatening depression.

RedHook managed to write such a rock solid album that we can’t wait to see where they go next and hopefully that brings them stateside! For now, fans in Australia can catch RedHook through the end of May with Bad/Love, Belle Haven, and Grenade Jumper. The band are heading to the UK with Stand Atlantic as well as a huge slot on the famed Download Festival and the juggernaut Rock For The People festival in Czech Republic this June! See all of RedHook’s tour dates here and grab your tickets while you can!

Spiritbox Drop Brand New Single, “THE VOID”

Spiritbox just dropped a brand new single, “The Void” and the accompanying visualizer. The release comes as the band hits their stride on the completely sold out, first ever US headline tour, “Eternal Blue Tour.”

The band debuted the song live on tour and instantly had fans buzzing. When asked about the new track, vocalist, Courtney LaPlante said, “The Void is a song that came about very quickly. I didn’t have to fight with anything to write it, and when that happens, I don’t argue with it. It’s a type of song that I’ve been wanting to write for a long time, I’ve heard it hundreds of times now, and it makes me so happy every time I hear it. It’s been such an amazing experience playing this song on our tour, and watching people hear it for the first time, in real time.”

“The Void” sounds distinctly like Spiritbox yet nothing like their past releases. The band’s ability to craft a multi layer world within a singular song is unmatched! Spencer Sutherland Dazzles NYC’s Irving Plaza

Pop’s rising superstar Spencer Sutherland brought his “In His Mania Tour” to NYC recently and he made it a night fans won’t soon forget! From the incredibly talented openers like breakout queer icon Jordy, to the second Spencer left the stage, the fans were singing every word.

Jordy hit the stage illuminated by a rainbow neon heart sign with his name in it and a band behind him that really let him shine. Singing his heart out, Jordy was just as excited to be on the stage as the fans were to connect with his open and honest lyrics. Tracks like “Long Distance,” his viral hit “Dry Spell” and even a dance remix cover of Hilary Duff’s iconic single “Come Clean” got the crowd’s energy soaring!

Jordy took a moment to acknowledge the TikTok craze that’s spawned from his latest single, “The Story Of A Boy” which is a playful rewrite of the early 00s band Nine Days’ hit single “Absolutely (Story Of A Girl).” He even brought out the band’s lead singer/songwriter John Hampson for the song!

Spencer Sutherland paired his high energy with a funky floral printed vest and matching bellbottoms that made him look every part the rockstar that he is! Vocally, Spencer soared through fan favorites and instant classics from his debut album, In His Mania, hitting all of the right notes and sweet vocal runs that make his live show so unique.

Performing tracks like “Jealousy,” “Paranoia,” and weaving in a cover of ‘A Thousand Miles’ by Vanessa Carlton into his song “Strange Feeling” proved that Spencer has the prowess and know-how to soon be selling out arenas across the world. “Chicken Little,” is an unreleased track but the fans knew every single word! Covering an Elton John song is no easy feat but Spencer tackled “Benny and the Jets” as if it were his own song with the ease of a seasoned pro!

For his encore, Spencer donned a red and white custom vest to match the vibe of the record and left fans eagerly wanting another show in NYC very very soon!
